FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK State Royalty YAD, SATURDAY, Sept. 27, 1975, at Lodge 80, Holland. * * We would like to call your attention to the fact that, beginning with this issue, we are placing the standing lodge meeting date announcements in the Bulletin Board section—that is, the ones that read the same from week to week and give no specific date. Some of these have been appearing in the Entertainment Calendar and a few in the Bulletin Board section. We have not given too much attention to the matter, but our calendar section was getting too large and was becoming too congested. The Entertainment Calendar will be utilized for just what the name implies — entertainment dates. If there is a change in a particular lodge's meeting date, say for a month, then we will print the announcement in the Letters section for that particular month, in letter form, of course, We plan to continue listing the specific dates of the lodge meetings in the Entertainment Calendar for those lodges sending in their dates, since this requires only a couple of lines, i.e., Sunday, Oct. 5 — Lodge meeting, 2 p.m. It is hoped that our members read the Letters section to keep informed about their Society and especially their own particular lodge and meeting dates; remember, you only get, in return, what you put
TIME Alas! how swift the moments fly! How flash the years along! Scarce here, yet gone already by, The burden of a song. See childhood, youth, and manhood pass, And age with furrowed brow; Time was — Time shall be Drain the glass — But where in Time is now? —John Quincy Adams * * Backward, turn backward, 0 Time, in your flight, Make me a child again just for tonight. —Elizabeth A. Allen into any organization. Sunday, September 7 was State YAD for Arts, Crafts, Talent, etc., at Temple High School. A very nice and appreciative audience attended and, very cooperatively enjoyed the afternoon. It seems that each year the YAD gets better and more advanced in all aspects, especially talent. Frankly, in all divisions of the program, such as Handicraft, Home Arts, Science and Educational, etc., our youth really do stand out in their particular chosen field. It is to be appreciated how much time these youth spend on worthwhile efforts, in whatever field of the YAD they choose and our SPJST Society is proud of them. It also must be
stated that quite a large number of adults in our youth movement, including parents, devote much time and effort in preparation and planning our YADs. Our office has received inquiries concerning the senior and Junior group talent pictures and if they were taken, since they did not appear on the list, in the Vestnik, of pictures to be taken. They were not on the list we received for publication, but rest assured that the group talent, both senior and junior groups, were taken. We have some photos of the YAD on hand at this time, and Brother Morris and Sister Massey will be sending us the "official" pictures soon. All in all, the YAD was a very nice day and was made shorter by the humorous interludes of MC Randy Reets of KWHI radio station in Brenham and a member of Lodge No. 169 Brenham. * * This week, as the deadline approaches, a cool spell has arrived here in West, as well as the football season. Here, in Central Texas, the cotton is being brought in, to be ginned, the fields are being prepared for the winter and spring. The pecan trees are bearing a wonderful crop of pecans this year and the smell of autumn in the air. When we realize how, indeed, time passes by, we are tempted to try to make every hour of that thing called TIME count and mean
