FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK
Sunda , September 8th, we journeyed to Lodge Pokrok Dallas No 84 to the annual State Royalty Day which comprises the other half of our State `JADs each year. The day was nice and a nice audience attended the pleasant affair. SYT) Mrs. Dorothy Massey has a com plete report of both State YADs in this issue. We enjoyed the contest and presentations of all of the contestants which were all good. It seems that the quality gets better and better each year and of course, that is the purpose of our SPJST Society: to help our youth become more mature as they grow up and this nelps them all to also be better citizens of our state and nation. The judges certainly have their duties cut out for them in contests of this type. Again, we have to repeat that our youth counselors and leaders and, indeed, the parents ALL are to be commended for their devotion to the youth movement. Our Society will reap rewards in the future for having paid attention to that segment of our membership. They are in the maturing stage of their young lives, and need sensible guidance more than ever. It is indeed a pleasure to see • these youthful members from the wee ages to the teenagers, all proudly stand up to be seen and never falter in admitting they are members of
TEN MISTAKES OF LIFE To set up your own standard of right and wrong and expect everybody to conform to it To try to measure the enjoyment of others by our own. To expect uniformity of opinion in this world. To look for judgment and experience in youth. To endeavor to mold all dispositions alike . To be unyielding to unimportant trifles. To look for perfection in our own actions. To worry ourselves and others about what cannot be remedied. To believe only what our finite minds can grasp. To live as if the moment, the time, the day were so important that it would live forever.
the SPJST and describing the enjoyment they have at meetings, camp, swimming, etc. Here is something that has impressed me at several of our recent occasions such as meetings, dances, YADs and other affairs and that is the ease and affection that our youth display in mingling with our older members, and especially their ability to get along with their leaders and the affection displayed toward them,
Sunday, at the Royalty Ball, when the dance began, it was a pleasure to see our teenage king and queen contestants, without hesitation, dance with their parents and other older members. It certainly cannot be said that there is a generation gap in communications between our age groups in our SPJST! We're proud of you young folks; keep up the good work! * * We are publishing the Czech radio program schedule again this week; we regret that Joe Gavranovic's name was misspelled last week. Incidentally, seems that Czech programs are listened to quite extensively , not only in Texas, but all over the nation, especially in Nebraska and the Midwest, including the Cleveland Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois, areas. Yours truly was pleasantly surprised about two months ago by a letter from Brother Felix Drabek of Houston, who wrote: "On the way north on IH-35 through Waco, we turned our radio knob and imagine our surprise in hearing your voice in Czech. We enjoyed the program while traveling to North Texas." The hosts of these programs, whose names appear in the table listing the programs, all appreciate comments from their listeners from time to time pertaining to their programs. Thanks!
