FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Saturday, April 20th, the Czech Ex-Students Association of Texas met at Austin, in the continuing' effort to bolster and aid the teaching and studying of the Czech language in our colleges and schools in Texas. We were not able to attend the meeting, however, we did get to attend the social and gathering at SPJST Lodge Praha No. 29, Taylor, later that Saturday. We were glad to meet with all of the professors present: Skrivanek — TAMU, Jacobson — TU, Habana — U of H, Chervenka — TJC, plus many others. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and left feeling that there was real interest among the younger people in attempting to further the bilingual aspect of the teaching of languages of higher learning in our state's institutions of higher education. When that emergency hits — illness, for example — funds are avail able promptly from your life insurance company. Here are some things you should know about policy loans: If you shculd die before repaying, the full balance due plus all accrued interest would be deducted from the proceeds of your policy. Your family would get that much less, probably at a time when they needed every penny. *Unlike most consumer loans -Irorn bankS, finance companies, credit unions and other lenders -a pciicy loan does not carry credit life insurance protection to wipe out your debt if you should die. As a counterbalance, however, many policies provide that dividends can be used to purchase one-year term insurance without a physical examination, up to the amount of cash value in the policy. The loan value of your policy provides a safety marghi to keep your life insurance in force, if, in a future financial crisis, you shculd be unable to pay your premiums when they fal due. But, if you have already borrowed heavily on the policy, you will have little or none of this safety margin left. If you fail to pay the yearly intei est on a policy loan, it is added
