Wednesday, December 26, 1913 Presently, • oldtime music is reaching a more diverse and aware audience. It was just a good turn of lucks that Reggie Ludwig, the former bandleader of the Hi-Toppers, appeared on the scene at Lodge 47 when some members were anticipating a concert band some time ago. Without a ,doubt, Reggie knew he would get everyone's cooperation whenever the band began to materialize. The 17-member Concert Band composed of District II boys and girls, plus two adults, indeed performed the oldtime and seasonal music superbly.

The band that prefers to be called SPJST District II Concert Band, was requested to play for one hour, but, due to the overwhelming reception, the bandleader conducted the band until just before the traditional meal was served. Mr. Ludwig and the band deserve compliments from all of us who attended the pleasant evening.

For a number of years, Lodge 47 officers and board of trustees select a "Brother and Sister of the 'Year" who contribute unselfishly, so much of their time, to the mother lodge. In a thoughtful manner, only the lodge president is aware of the selected couple prior to the award presentation; this announcement and presentation is made during an appropriate time of the year for the lodge's membership to witness the effective presentation and, at the same time, appreciate the recipients for their untiring effort. This is such a meaningful 'way to express appreciation in behalf of the lodge's membership which vahies and treasures members who are not afraid of hard work. Lodge President Leon Zavodny had the priviledge of presenting a plaque to Brother Alfred and Sister Martha Klusacek, who truly deserved the honor bestowed upon them. Congratulatians from all of us who were privileged to witness the memorable occasion.

The Seaton choral group, which performs at various other functions in the state under the direction of Sister Anna Jakubec, entertained the assembly, singing English and Czech songs, plus Christmas carols that so many of us like to hear during this season. Without children in the SPJST family circle, the large-scale activity at Lodge 47 would not have been cora-

vEsTNtx plete, especially when numerous youngsters still believe in Santa's visit where they can sit on his lap and place all order with him for their favorite toys to be delivered on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day; nothing could be more delightful to Santa than seeing a youngster's smiling face. The large representation of youngsters under the leadership of Sister LaVerne Vanicek and her assistants, presented a colorful and spiritual Christmas program that added much attraction to the festivity.

Another big step toward progress in the SPJST materialized on July 17, 1973 when Lodge 177 in Academy joined the family circle and became a part of the Society.

Brothers Jerry Tomastik and Willie Dusek were instrumental in this accomplishment in District II after thirty new members applied for membership on this date at Academy Drag Strip. This particular evening, it was everyone's dream to form a new lodge whenever the opportunity occurred.

Since the two key men were so enthusiastically inclined for a formation of a new lodge, they decided to sign up more new members before a designated date was set for the charter ceremonies.

With a 158 membership enrollment, the charter ceremonies took place on a cool, crisp Sunday afternoon, December 16th at the Academy High School Gym in Academy where many interested SPJST members from. various parts of the state, mainly from District II, came to extend a warm handshake for a successful endeavor.

District II Sales Representative Lad Zatopek, who presided through most of the program, called the assembly to order and introduced the Supreme Lodge = officers, editor, district officers, state youth director, and many other visiting guests. SL Vice President Joe B. Hejny installed the new lodge and pointed out many interesting facts about which many of our members are uninformed. He continued with the following information: (The following portion of Brother Ifejny's remarks were mentioned by him in a manner of informing the members present of the many advantages the SPJST Fraternal Society offers its members.

Refund of premiums on permanent life and endowment certificates after 5 years in force (about $195,000 this year). This premium refund is greater than the premium itself on the above discounted certificates.

7 % refunded to local lodges of the premiums collected and albmitted to the Supreme Lodge (about $95,000 this year).

Loans available to qualified lodges at 5% interest without any down payment up to $70,000.

Donation to districts 15 cents per each member 16 years and older, but not less than noo to any one district, this is to be used for the benefit of the youth. $150 a year to each district to help defray their operating expenses.

Approximately $15,000 a year fOr youth tamps. $250 scholarship a year to qualified teenager.

25 cents si month per youth club members to active and qualified youth clubs. Plus many awards and

Supreme Lodge President Nick A. Morris administered the pledge of loyalty and gawe a brief speech on how important it is to become involved and loyal to your lodge.

Introduction and installation of Lodge 177 officers was carried out

by SL Secretary-Treaourer Leonard Mikeska. The charge was read to each officer/ concerning, their duties on the local lodge level; and he presented the gavel to President Jerry Tomastik. Supreme Lodge Vice President Hejny and David ZatoPekl (a guest) took an active part in the presentation of the charter (with 158 names), SPJST emblem and the Banner of Lodge 177; which were accepted

by President Jerry Tomastik. During the charter ceremonies, Brother Hejny expressed the meaning of each presentation to the officers and members of Lodge 177. State Youth Director Dorothy Massey also took part in the ceremony when she introduced Youth Leader Pat Tomastik and her assistant plus the 22-member youth club that has been active since the original date of the lodge's inception.

District II Director Henry Vitek expressed his congratulations.

It is interesting to note that when we learn of the formation of a new lodge in our Society it is always a step forward. It requires the art of getting along and willingness to show continued progress of our SPJST. During the ceremony we noted the amount of interest that this membership showed, for they are contemplating on building a lodge home at some time in the near future. Let us a ll' join them and wish them much success for steady growth of their Lodge No. 177, Academy!

City for over 50 years. Brother Miculka joined the SPJST April 15, 1906 and his wife joined the SPJST November 13, 1912. Brother Miculka also served as lodge secretary at Karnes City for 50 years; this is quite a record.

Brother and Sister Miculka were married November 3, 1908, and were blessed with five children, Agnes (Miculka) Reinhard, Viola (Miculka) Mazac of San Antonio, Texas, George Miculka, Vancouver, Wash., Vladik Miculka of El Paso, Tx, and Helen (Miculka) Bravo.nec of Pasadena, Tx. They have 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The couplo now resides at 431. Fair Ave., San Antonio,' Texas 78223.

KOVARS CELEBRATE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kovar, who have been a part of Taylor their entire lives, marked fifty years of married life Saturday with several hundred relatives and friends joinhig them for the celebration.

The party was given in the SPJST Lodge 29 east of Taylor. The guests gathered in the early afternoon and

She is active as a member of Lodge Praha No. 29, Taylor (SPJST), also in church work to date and is a charter member of the St. Anne's Altar Society and a charter member and honorary at present in Count Guardian Angel, Catholic Daughters of America. She also served as president of the Former Mothers Club now Parent-Teachers Club of St. Mary's School.

Mr. Kovar, a champion of all that is good business for Taylor, also active in his church in the Knights of Columbus and other groups, is an active member of the SPJST Lodge, and much of the success of locating S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor is attributed to him.

These were all brought out in the calk by Mr. Bartosh, who told of the arrival of their only daughter, now Mrs. James Bartosh, and the Live grandchildren, James Jr., Denise, Timothy, Jane, and Claire Bartosh.

R. J. Bartosh added to the story and he asked the members of the two families to stand and be recognized.

In the religious service, the Rev. James O'Connor of Taylor, and the Rev. Jerry Smith of Austin, formerof Taylor, presided. The Rev. James Olnhausen, another member of the St. Mary's pastorate also added to the occasion.

The Taylor Czech Chorus in the costumes of the old country, presented a group of songs, concluding with "God Bless America" in Which the guests all joined. Denise Bartosh played the accompaniment to this group of numbers.

Edwin Kovar and Sophia Naivar were married in the old St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. L Raska officiating. The ceremony was on the morning of Oct. 29, and attendants were Bill Kovar and Miss Clara Nativar.

Although the celebrant had made it clear that there were to be no gifts, a profusion of gold mums and other flowers arrived to decorate the dinner tables.

Frank Zurovetz and his orchestra provided the music for dancing after the program and dinner.

Both are 50 year members of the SPJST, and Brather and Sister James Bartosh and all the grandchildren are SPJST members also. They are Ed.) a 100 percent SPJST FamIlly.

For the first time, Temple Junior College also offered a Czech language course in its day division. Working in class are, L to R: Jeanette Jarolik of Holland; Barbara Kubacak, Granger; and Daniel Hudec, Temple.

Calvin Chervenka was the class instructor.

Temple Junior College will begin its third year of Czech language instruction in the spring semester. "Texas Czech" and_ cultural heritage ara stressed. Both day and evening classes are planned. For additional information, prospective students should contact the Registrar's Office.

SAC Elite Guard Johnny F. Keel, son of Jerry and Betty Poston, left for his base in Nebraska after having spent a week with his parents.

Lin Lesak is doing fine after having knee surgery. Brother Frank Bohac is in Heights Hospital and his pretty daughter, Susan, is in M. D. Anderson. We hope these wonderful members have a very speedy recovery.

Joe Miksch and Edwin Klesel, celebrated birthdays and donated the beer for the lodge's monthly meeting.

Thanks to all members and guests for a very nice crowd at the Nick Navarro dance on Friday, December 7. Celebrating birthdays at this dance were Lonnie Perry and Helen Jones.

The dance on Saturday night, December 8, with fine music by Mr. Lee Roy Matocha and his boys, was well attended. Many thanks to all present, especially Albert Miculka and his large group of friends. There were .'bout 125 in the group, including Billy Peska and Hazel Barber, who had a special engagement announcement.

Dear Readers, Our Christmas party was held Saturday, December 8th, beginning with a program by the youth, portraying a manger scene, during which Christmas carols were sung, and closing by everyone joining in the singing of Christmas carols.

The baby Jesus was portrayed by 3-week-old Jason Brown.

Accompanying the singing on the piano was Mrs. Florence Frazier.

After that a delicious turkey and dressing dinner with all the trimmings was served. Then came a visit from Santa, with the children sitting on Santa's lap telling him what gifts they wanted on Christmas morning, with quite a few adults getting in on the act!

Then the dancing began with The Versatiles playing and ;veryone had a grand time, especially during the snowballs.

We were happy to have with us, Supreme Lodge President Nick Morris and family, Secretary-

Treasurer Leonard Mikeska and family. Editor Rudy Sefcik and family, and many other guests.

I believe everyone had a good time.

On Decembe r 9th, President Henry Breitkreutz called our meeting to order. The pledge of allegiance was led by youth m bers Julie and Terri Hand, Charlotte Banik, Dawn Pavelka, and Honey Brown.

Secretary Albert Banik read the minutes of the previous meeting which were approved. He then read correspondence from Silas Smith, Ben Zabcik, Sid Pokladnik, Dorothy Massey, Rudy - Sefcik, and thank-you notes from Betty Brown, Adolf Kubitza, and St. 'Joseph Church Council.

Henry Breitkreutz, Jr., gave the treasurer's report.

Albert Banik reported for the trustees.

The chairmen each gave their reports and thanked all for helping.

Appointed to the Grievance Committee were Eugene Pavelka, Gene Edward Pavelka, Rudy Zalman, Albert Banik and David Trussell.

Rosie Wood was appointed to send flowers. Please notify her if any member is ill or in the hospital.

Brother Adolf Kubitza was reported to have been in the hospital, but is home now. Sister Rosalee Vicha is in Providence Hospital. We all wish them a speedy covery.

New members accepted were: Stacy Michelle Raines, William Franklin Glass.

Dear Members: There was a good attendance at the regular December meeting.

President Johnnie Svoboda called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Sister LaRita Macek led in the recitation of the pledge of allegiance and the members stood for a moment of silent respect to honor the memory of our deceased members, Mrs. Hermina Zabeik and Mr. Wm. A. Stepan. Our deepest sympathy to the families of these two departed members.

Two of our members are now recuperating at home from recent surgery, Brother Vice President Patrick Geistman and Sister Nelda Marek. We send each of you our get-well wishes.

New members accepted into this lodge are: Jason Joe Volek, Frankie Joe Volek, Michael Bernard Lenart, David Paul Bedrich and Gregory Gene Hall. Hope to see many of you in the near future at some of our lodge functions.

The pledge of allegiance and lodge motto were recited by all present led by the youth club.

President Silas Smith asked everyone to stand in silent prayer for Walter James Kadlubar, brother of Sister Angelina West and Sister Emily Kolenovsky. Our sympathy is extended to them and Mrs. Kadlubar on the loss of their loved one.

Brother Frank Parma had Sister Darlene Engelke read the minutes of the board of trustees meeting of Monday night, December 3rd.

Sister Jeanette Smith reported on the entertainment committee activities. Sister Smith thanked the members for the gift they received at the party; she also thanked

everyone who came out to help put up the tree and decorate the lodge on Friday, November 30th, also those who helped set up and decorate the tables for the party on Friday, December 14th.

Sister Smith recognized those on the committee for 1973 and thanked them for their services. The three new members on the commit tee for 1974 were also introduced.

The committee together donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Fund; Sister Smith had $7. A donation was asked from the floor if someone wished to donate, also.

Sister Smith received $25.71 making a total of $32.71 to be given to this fund The Christmas stockings, left from the party, were also donated to the Salvation Army.

We wish to thank all of you who donated to this fund. It will be delivered to the Salvation Army by Sister Smith.

Sister Libbie Parma reported on the activities of the youth club.

They have several projects planned and have made several donations to different charities. Everyone please save and give your aluminum cans, newspapers, magazines, tin cans and glass to the club.

Brother Otto Hanus, 1976 Conven tion Chairman, reported that there will be a meeting on Friday night, January ',4 at 7:30 p.m. at Linden lodge. All those on the committee and members are asked to please attend, so plans can be set up for the committee to work on.

Membership cards will be issued for 1974. These cards are good for one dance a month of your choice.

This pass is worth $1.50 per person. If used for admission of $1.50 at the ticket office, your pass Is worth $1.50; If the admission is $2 per, person, you use your card for $1.50 and must pay 50c. extra on admission, effective January 1, 1974. You may contact Sister Darlene Engelke to get your membership card for 1974.

President Smith said that he had enjoyed serving as president of Lodge 66 for the past two years and that it was the best thing that ever happened to him. From vice president one year and president two years, Brother Smith has advanced to higher fields. He is the State Field Manager of our Supreme Lodge. He is the Lodge 66 treasurer and chairman of the board of trustees for 1974. Brother Smith has served his lodge well, been a loyal member and he has become a very good and true "Czech Brother" in Lodge 66. Bro. Smith can be very proud of the many things he accomplished while being a leader of our lodge during the years that he served.'

He has the ability to be a good leader. working with his fellow officers and committee members in harmony. He has worked handin-hand in Benevolence, Humanity, and Brotherhood and proved his true fraternalism in many ways. We wish Brother Smith success in his position as State Field Manager and hope he continues to be with Lodge 66 for many more years.

The highlight of the program was when the choir sang "Jingle Bells" which brought in a Jolly Santa Claus, who stopped for a visit with the children. He gave each a Christmas stocking.

The food was very delicious, and the ladies in the kitchen did' an excellent job as usual. .Thank you, ladies! I hope everyone enjoyed the party and Christmas dance which was held Saturday night.

Youth Leader Louise Knapick outlined the youth program and ac tivities planned. On December 17 a ;Christmas program was presented and the Birthday Club Sisters were special guests. She extended an invitation to all members to attend. The youth club will attend the Houston Museum in January, 1974.

Vt STNfIe Following the financial reports, Entertainment Committee Chairman Leander Pflughaupt reported the social activities at the lodge.

He thanked the following named Birthday Club Sisters for hemm• ing and repairing the tablecloths used at the lodge: Birdie Hilsher, Mary Tilich, Frances Dvorak, Willie Mae Wood, Mary Kalousek, Anna Vala, Annie Elzner, Edna Wehring and Josephine Pflughaupt.

Sister Della Kadlecek reported for the Birthday Club Sisters and thanked Brother E.J. and Sister Pearl Hanka for donating turkeys to the club for the November meeting and to Sister Ida Hanka who donated a cake in honoring the birthday of her son, Brother Frank Hanka. She thanked Brother A. L. and Sister Birdie Hilsher for offering to furnish food to the club for the Christmas party.

Choral Group and Hlahol Director, T.S. Kostom reported that the Choral group had a rehearsal with the concert band and he was well pleased with the results: The English play will be repeated at Lodge 88 and there were requests from out of town societies to have us present the play. Sister Susan Schenburn who sponsored a fund raising drive for a deserving youth to fly to Washington presented a check for $300 to Sister Becky Wright. The purpose of the trip is to acquaint the youth with the functions, etc., of the government.

The annual meeting of Lodge No. 88 will be held on January 13, 1974, at 10 am.; recess for noon meal and those present in the morning session will be served a delicious meal without charge. It is the duty of all members to make every effort to attend the annual meeting.

Between January 1 and. November 30, 1973 we wrote 205 applications for a grand total of $600,000. That leaves us• $200,000 short of our quota for 1973. That means that each sales representative in our district will have to write $3,500 of life insurance before December 31, 1973.

Even though it takes only a tick of the clock to go from the old to the new, we have the feelrig of a chance for a new start There is another chance to finish uncompleted projects or "try again" at something that was unsuccessful before.

When you think about your New Year's resolutions, be sure to give some thought to the SPJST. Let. us all work harder to get more people into our Society and make them welcome. a higher goal to work toward for 1974, and it takes the efforts, inter est, and attendance of all our members to make such things hap-. pen. Everyone is important and we have an interest for anyone who will join us in our plans of events and activities for 1974.

You are a wonderful group of workers and it is really a pleasure working with all of you. FROM 'THE LODGE YOUTH LEADERS

LODGE NO, 130, DALLAS Dear Members, A most rewarding feeling is the opportunity to give to one less fortunate than yourself. As our Christmas project, our youth club voted to play host and Santa Claus to a group of underprivileged boys.

We were very pleased to have found a marvelous bunch, living in DeSoto with their foster parents, Mr. and, 'Mrs. David Van Ornum, who are affiliated with the Society for Abandoned and Neglected Children (SANCI). They ranged in age from 8 to 14 years and all ten of them were our guests at our December meeting. We played games, got a great game of football going, had lots of treats and a fabulous Christmas supper prepared by Helen and Bob Oates. We ended a very happy day with gifts for the boys. Such excitement! Needless to say, our happiness was far greater than theirs in seeing eyes sparkle wherr packages with large trucks, electric football, basketball, Skittle Pool, Pendulum Pool, Crossfire, etc., etc., were opened. The floor of our lodge soon looked like a toy store. Everyone was trying out his new game at the same time.

It was a long-to-be-remembered afternoon. I'm sure that I speak for all the youth in saying that a much greater meaning of the true spirit of Christmas was experienced that day.

14 daily all the youth club. I've received calls from the boys' foster parents, telling me how very much they enjoyed the day and the gifts we gave them. Days like this only make me more aware of what a wonderful group we really have and I want to say how very prould I was of all of them.

NO, 4, IIALLETTSVILLE Dear Members: On Saturday, December 1st, our lodge's youth club met and held their first practice far their Christmas program.

It was' decided, during the meeting, to go caroling on December 22nd and then have hot chocolate and cookies afterwards at the Grant Building.

A committee of David Zak, Edwin.

Gallia, III, Emery Gallia, Ronald Sevcik, and Kenneth Sevoik was selected to prepare and deliver greeting cards to the residents of the Stevens Convalescent Center.

A report was given an their Thanksgiving charity.

Following the meeting, a practice was held. Another practice was held on December 8th.

At 7:45 p. m. Sunday, December 9 following the adult meeting, the youth program, started. Sandra Holy served as MC. LODGE NO. 24, CYCLONE Dear Readers, We had our monthly meeting Wednesday, the 12th of December.

We discussed our socials which were held this month. They are as follows: Friday, December 14th, we had our Christmas program practice.

On December 15th we had our Christmas program. After the Christmas prograM the youth club exchanged gifts while the adults handed out bagged fruit. Then on December 16th, the youth club went to the Leisure Lodge to sing to the elderly people and give them candy and apples. They really enjoyed it and so did we. At the meeting there were two visitors, Denise Mikeska and Alan Haider.

The meeting Was then adjourned.

Our next monthly meeting will be held Wednesday, January 9th at 7:30 p.m. The members of Lodge No. 24 wishes you a Happy New Year.

15 LODGE NO. 74, LOVELADY Dear Members, As the year draws to a close, we, here at Lodge 74, look back on what we have done this year and we are proud of what we see. Ear Tier this year, when we started to reactivate this lodge, there were many people telling us that we were working toward an impossible goal; we did take time to listen to them but we did not follow them in their reasoning, and now we see that we did the right thing. Our goals were not only reached but well surpassed.

As the new year approaches we must set our goals for the year.

I believe that I will speak for many other people in the lodge when I say that 1974 will be the greatest year for Lodge 74. With the planned addition of 5,000 sq. ft. to our building and the building of an olympic-size swimming pool I think that we will have some of the finest facilities for our youth.

Over the past year we did not enter any state competition; this was due to the fact that our youth department is new, but we foresee for next year, many happenings from Lodge 74.

A reminder to those of you who may have forgotten that we will have no game party until January 9 or any youth meetings until January 11.

LODGE NO. 160, SAN ANGELO Dear Readers, The youth of Lodge No. 160 met on Sunday, December 9th with the mother lodge. Our main activity will be skating on December 27th.

After our meeting, the youth presented a Christmas program to the adults. Then we had a singalong of Christmas carols. Laddie Socha, president of the mother lodge, handed out gifts to all. The youth presented our youth leader, Beatrice Socha, with a gift. We extend our sincere appreciation to bar for everything she has done for us.

Dear Readers, Lodge No. 66 held its annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 15th. We were glad to have as our guests, Supreme Lodge President Nick Morris and his wife!, Dorothy; State Youth Director Dorothy Massey, Brother and Sister Alvin Nesuda and Editor and Sister Rudy Sekik. President Morris installed our new officers for the coming year, 1974.

A Christmas program was pre sented by the youth. Then the dues were collected.

We then sang "Happy Birthday" to two guests, Mark Horelica, and Glenn Mattila.

Then we had to pay a bill to Mrs. Kalina for $14.08. We drew our door prize for the guest and the winner was Peggy Spacek.

Under old business was our trip to the rest home in Wharton. We decided to cancel going Christmas caroling.

Under new business we decided that since we didn't go caroling to the rest home that we would go there in February and we will bring them Valentines that we will make at the next meeting.

Then everybody opened there gifts and told everyone what they received.

We then made name tags ror ourselves.

The meeting was a djourned and we sang songs until, ;Santa Claus came. Then we had refreshments and everybody went home.

Wednesday, December 26, 1973 LODGE NO. 28, EAST BERNARD Lodge 28 East Bernard held its meeting on December 2nd. First, the adults held their meeting; then our youth club had their regular meeting.

After our youth club meeting, the youth put on a Christmas program and the adults enjoyed it very much.

The youth, who did not finish their project at our November meeting, finished their project in our December meeting.

Our youth wishes happy holidays to everyone!

NO. 28, EAST BERNARD Dear Members: We held our last meeting December 2nd at 2 p. m. Our President Josephine Kelner called the meeting order. Everyone stood and we recited the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

The secretary, Jeanette Buxkemper called the roll call and read the minutes of the previous meeting.

New business was the craft for January.

We also had our Christmas play for the lodge members.

Next, new business was called in order. We tabled the motion to sponsor special acitivi ges after the Christmas and New Year holidays.

EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No. 154, Fort Worth, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed brother, RICHARD M. CUSHMAN who died suddenly Thursday, December 6, 1973 at the age of 60.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 10 at 10a,m. at the Lucas Memorial Chapel; Rev. Harold Cook officiating.

Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Survivors are wife, Florence: sons, Norman M., Richard B., Dennis 0., Roy D.; daughters, Mrs. Carol Ludwick, Mrs. Robin Anderson; ten grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Jessie Thomas and brother, Lewis May our departed brother rest in eternal peace.

Brother McNutt was a member of the Sons of Hermann and the SPJST Lodge No. 83.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ruth Klahn of Brenham and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Satur,day, October 20, 19t73 at the Waltrip Chapel with the Rev. I. W. Gilliam officiating. Interment and graveside services were at Concord Cemetery in Kinney, Texas.

Resolution Committee, Margaret Allbritton Mary Tilich Dorothy Hersley —SPJSTEXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the undersigned Resolution Committee of Lodge No. 44, Industry, in behalf oil all our members, want to hereby express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed brother, ERNEST BAUMGART, Sr. who passed away Tuesday, November 13, 1973 in the La Grange Hospital after suffering a stroke on Saturday. He attained the age 'of 75 years and 2 months.

Funeral services for Mr. Baumgart were held at 2 p. m. from the St. John's Episcopal Church in Columbus on Thursday, November 15 with Rev. Jim Watt officiating. Burial was in the New Ulm Cemetery.

Mr. Baumgart served as a banker in New Ulm for 44 years, serving as president. He also took an active part in many community and civic affairs.

Mr. Baumgart is survived by his wife Mrs. Fay Bautmgart; one son, Ernest Baumgart, Jr. of Columbus; four grandchildren; and one brother, Otto Baumgart of Houston.

HOW TO MAKE A CHRISTMAS SCRAPBOOK Here's a great idea for salvaging those used or leftover Christmas gift wrappings.

You may use a regular 3-ring loose-leaf notebook, or out cardboard to any size you like, for the covers. If you make your covers, you can punch holes in them later and put covers and inside pagei together with left-over ,Christmas ribbons (press them smooth first).

Cover notebook or cardboard with gift-wrap paper. You can press used or left-over Christmas wrap paper smooth with an ► iron, set on a very low heat. Measure notebook, taking the height and width of front and back covers.

20 Add one-inch overlap to all four Sides. Cut out of one piece of paper, or two if you use two pieces of cardboard. Notch the corners. Using rubber cement, or any household glue, glue paper to outside covers of notebook, centering between the notched corners. Then ue overlaps to inside of corners.

Measure exact dimensions of inaide covers. Out out one piece of gift wrap for each (this could be a contrast pattern) and cement into place, covering overlaps.

Select a scene from a Christmas card and glue to the center of front cover. Trim the edges, if you like, with leftover ribbon, gold braid, or tape.

Rodina Nesudova, jak je vgichni znate, jsou takovi dfiei v Sokole, V fade Jaro, eislo 130 SPJST a ye vgech spolcieh, co my tu v Dallas mime; neschazi pti gadnem podniku a ptilogi ruce k dilu a ja, jsem jejich ptilepek a jezdim vgude s nima.
