Another inspiring record in the SPJST! Yes, these are inspiring times in our Society because through the tremendous effort of our numerous sales representatives plus rank and file members, we are provided with unlimited opportunities to keep our Society in the, limelight at all times. Recently, an insurance three-month contest has concluded among the representatives which has enabled the winners to attend the Texas Fraternal Congress (TFC) in Sherman in October, via an expense-paid trip. Information and pictures of the winners are in this issue attesting to the successful achievement of the many challenging goals. Many of you have shared in these accomplishments and we are all most grateful. During every SPJST convention important giant steps are taken,, primarily in the insurance department of our Society, where larger policies can be sold on reasonable scales. Just recently a referendum was mailed to each
LABOR DAY September 3, 1973, is Labor Day! Since 1894 in the United States and Canada, this holiday has been observed on the first Monday in September. The celebration of this day was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor who held a parade in New York City in 1884. Parades are traditionally celebrated on Labor Day. Have a happy and safe holiday! delegate from the 21st SPJST Convention, to give the Supreme Lodge the approval to write non-medical applications for $50,000 through age 35 and $25,000 through 40. Personally, we feel the approval by the . delegates on the referendum was a further step toward greater progress in our organization. Our heartiest congratulations to all the winners and other sales representatives who worked so diligently in the field and those who added so many new members to our Society, especially being aware of the present crisis of inflation and other obstacles. We cannot help but feel that the finest gift a man or woman can give to his or her age and time is the gift of a constructive life and by the many sales representatives who gave positive evidence of their dedication and loyalty to the ideals of the SPJST, we see that anyone who endeavors to be of a
genuine service to others is a real hero of our day. • • The teaching of the Czech language has became a reality at the University of Houston, as well as at Texas Tech, etc. We have learned that to keep people interested in a certain project or objective, one must retain that project or objective matter before the people frequently. The reason for stressing the Czech language so strongly is because our SPJST Society was founded by the Czech forefathers. One need not feel resentful or humiliated when one is asked to admit that lie, is of Czech ancestry and can speak the language, or any other language as far as that goes. How many times must it be repeated that languages are very important in business and in social standards? Most of us should realize that the more languages you know may lead you, to greater accomplishments. Therefore, it is up to you whether you accomplish anything in life or not. • • The use of Diversity....If you. are the president of a lodge, club or any other group type, or in charge of program planning, here is an idea, that works out fine. Give everyone a chance to do something, at least once during the year. You will be surprised at the talent you have going to waste, simply
