FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK District II YAD at Lodge No. 24, (Flag Hall) Cyclone. Sunday, June 24 — District III held another successful activity which was added to their records when Dallas Lodge No. 84 hosted a large attendance at the District III Youth Achievement Day. According to our observations, the YAD participants were well prepared to challenge each other in all the various categories — arts, crafts, talent, and royalty, which was the highlight of the evening. These young people who participated in the YAD were indeed a fine example of what the SPJST is all about and that it teaches them to become good leaders of tomorrow. Those of you, especially the adults, who were not present at the YAD, should start planning to attend the State YAD which will be held on September 9 in Taylor, for this will give you a better view of your district's representation. At this point, we wish to inject our comments to the southern part of District III (Lodge No. 35, Elk), who diligently supported their youth all the way and brought them by bus to the YAD. This is indeed commendable of them. DYC Wilma Nesuda, Assistant DYC Rosemarie Banik, plus the large number of youth leaders and committees
worked hard and helped in so many ways to keep things moving smoothly so the impartial judges could judge all entries and give each entrant a fair opportunity to exhibit their crafts 'and perform their presentations. Our compliments to all of you who helped ,generate interest among the youth and lodges and for the major preparations which were time consuming in an undertaking such as this The program was presented in a smooth manner as was witnessed by the many members and guests present. The head of the Youth Department, SL President Nick Morris, and SYD Dorothy Massey were in charge of the main presentations of the annual district achievers' awards which resulted in itianY happy recipients. For the second consecutive year Lodge No. 6, Cottonwood, has captured
several honors, namely Youth Leader, Teenager, Junior and Youth Club of the Year were among some of their outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the YAD winners and the best of luck to all at the state level! • • (We are reprinting an appropriate article "I Am The Nation" pertaining to the Fourth of July, which appeared in the GSA Journal and is a reprint from the Volunteer. —Editor). • 4.
