FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK District IV YAD opened this year's youth activities with a large representation in all categories of youth activities. DYG Mary Haisler and her assistants are to be commended on their untiring efforts. In last week's Vestnik, she revealed the results of the district's YAD. Our compliments to the youth in District IV who do accept losing by being good losers and continue generating interest for next year's entry regardless of what category. Best of luck to the district winners. Sunday, June 17 — A fine representation of boys and, girls of District I turned out, in full force at Lodge 39 in Bryan to challenge other youngsters In the arts, crafts, talent and royalty. Being Father's Day, they certainly brought out the Happiness Is . . . to the appreciative audience. DYC Lola Vavra with her assistants played a vital role by keeping things moving at a steady pace. Even the merit awards distribution by Brother Morris, head of the Youth Department, went quickly. District I, as a whole, should be complimented for the consistant interest they retain among their youth. This was evident Sunday in the fine results of another year of hard work which involves many people and takes much preparation. The display of many fine arts and crafts was also enjoyed

The Vestnik of the SPJST Society is a kind, Sincere friend that visits you every week. It does not imitate others but is original and offers enjoyment, facts,
humor, pictures,- letters, reports arid many other features, from a vast storehouse of experience, knowledge and beauty. It is a small voice perhaps on the globe of the trillions of words that lie scattered in the vastness of space. We believe that if you are to find rewarding satisfaction in your work, if your life is to be rich and purposeful and crowned with high achievement, it is important that you continue to be a growing person. You must realize that education is a continuing process, that it does not end with; the termination of one's formal schooling. Much of the progress of civilization has been due to the efforts and accomplishments of men and women who have continued to grow intellectually and who wanted to make the world a bit happier either by a fine picture, book, deed, or thought. Life is a glorious privilege. You are the architect of your tomorrow. It will depend upon you and you alone what you will make of yourself and the kind of friends you will choose and the enemies you shall make. In the 76th, year of our SPJST Society's existence, let us make more friends and less enemies! Let us show FRATERNALISM by our acts and deeds and not let it only be the subject expoused in some speech in which we may think it will sound good and impress the listeners.
