The Important Role of Field Underwriters — Creative selling is and always will be the true function of the life insurance underwriter. His success depends upon his ability to motivate people. If he presents our modern plans of life insurance as a means of achieving a desired end, he motivates positively and his success will be assured. The functions of life insurance are to give power to a man's purpose that living at the time of retirement age, he shall live economically free; and at dying, he shall leave behind him a solvent family. Knowledge of the basic role that life insurance plays in our economy, careful programming for each individual prospect, and intelligent presentation are among the most important channels toward real

cess of life underwriting. However, there, are other important requisites necessarily in order to become a successful field underwriter.

He must feel a basic loyalty to the institution of life insurance and take real pride in distributing its benefts to the greatest number of people, he must set a goal based upon the great desire to succeed; and he must constantly study to keep abreast of the changes in the life insurance business. Using these tools, he will succeed. Assuring a prospect's tomorrow with an adequate life insurance program, is most gratifying to a sincere and conscientious field underwriter. It is a reward that makes hard work worth while. We all appreciate that economic conditions have changed considerably. We are living in an ever changing economy and the basic needs for life insurance protection are greater than ever before. This means that the tnan of today, must own an adequate life insurance program in order to fully protect his family. • How to make a hit. — It pays to be nice to all people not just a few . . . Think of all the successful people you know. Have you ever wondered how they got ahead? Better education? .. . not all of them.
