FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK NOTICE• Dear Members and Correspondents: We keep receiving letters postmarked on 'a Friday and Saturday and even on Sunday, announcing meetings for the following Sunday, etc. For instance, letters postmarKed January 6, 7 and 8, announcing meetings for January 14. These arrived Monday morning and your editor has to hold up the operations at the print shop to get these letters into the Vestnik. It is either try to print them or throw them away. Your editor feels that all correspondents should know in advance when their meeting is to be held and then send the letter in time. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, LETTERS WILL NOT BE PRINTED UNLESS THEY HAVE ARRIVED BY SATURDAY NOON. (Except in cases of strict emergencies). We hope you understand. Remember, the mail is very slow and delivery erratic. Thank you. ♦ • There comes a time in everyone's life when one has to make an important decision for retirement, and that time had arrived on December 31, 1972, for Supreme Lodge Secretary R. A. Urbanovsky, Legal Advisor Pvigust Kacir, District IV Director Etmil Holub, District VI Director Ed. Sralla, and District VII Director Jos. F. Koliha, Jr., all of whom have devoted a total of 86 collective years of their lives to the

The above-mentioned honorees were honored during a solemn occasion on Wednesday, January 10, at the Ponderosa in Temple, by a representation of the Supreme Lodge body, and editor (also, most of the wives attended). Brother Emil Holub and Brother Jos. F. Koliha, Jr., were unable to attend. The highlight of the evening was the Presentation of plaques, resolutions and gifts. SL President Nick A. Morris made most of the presentations, with the assistance of SL Vice Pres. Joe B. Hej ny. Before the presentation of awards, Brother Morris expressed his senti-

ments for the occasion. He remarked, "It is an honor and privilege to honor people who were our Supreme Lodge officers and directors for so long and I feel honored to serve with them This is a great occasion; not just another occasion. In his concluding remarks he stressed, "He feels privileged to honor our honorees." Brother Hejny spoke briefly. He stated the fact that, "He is so happy that so many were present to share this occasion and further stressed that we are not saying farewell, we are just saying good-bye for awhile." Brother Leonard Mikeska was called upon as the next speaker on the agenda. He made clear in his remarks, "Words fail during an occasion like this, when you look at these outgoing officers for their services; you feel like a newcomer." He added praise to all the retiring officers for their many years of service. Brother Ben Zabcik was the last Supreme Lodge officer who was asked to express his thoughts for the evening. In his statement, he remarked, "I feel like a person with the shortest time of service with only 12 years at the Supreme Lodge, after serving with Brothers Kacir, Urbanovsky, and Sralla." Brother Zabcik also emphasized that, "He kept calling on Brother Urbanovsky for help because of his great memory and had called on him on many
