JUNE 7, 1972

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK NOTICE: Your editor feels that there should be NO material of any controversial nature in our convention issue which will be dated June 14, 1972, and requests the entire membership to adhere to the above, after all, this will also be our 75th anniversary issue and, therefore, let us make it an issue that can be looked upon with pride as a fraternal keepsake by our membership and readers. • • The first District YAD of 1912 is being held Sunday, June 11, at the I0OF Hall in Abilene (District IV). Where there's a will, there's a way. A very true statement and not proven wrong to date. That's especially true among people who have fraternalism imbedded deeply within their hearts and souls. • • Your editor feels that by now, all of our members know about the special meeting of a "special committee" appointed by the Supreme Lodge in a special called meeting sometime before the date of February 25, 1972 and the membership of Lodge No. 111, Sugar Land on the night of March 6, 1972. (Vestnik, April 25) and subsequently Lodge No. 111 was suspended on March 17, 1972 for certain reasons as we all read in the Vestnik, March 22.

Flag Day, June 14

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE "I pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all," After the District III meeting on March 26 at. Lodge No. 25, Ennis, your editor had a very fraternal conversation with Brothers Sidney Kacir and Reuben Lesikar. In the conversation, they both stated that they felt there was nothing in the suspension issue that could not be resolved by a fraternal meeting of our SL and the officers of Lodge No. 111. Per our agreement, that there would be no harm in your editor contacting the officers of Lodge No. 111, since he knows them

personally, and making an effort that such a meeting be arranged, your editor called Brother Lowman Kruse, president of Lodge No. 111 and informed him of our conversation. This was in the week after March 26. He promised he would try to arrange such a meeting, and I was glad that a beginning had been made. Then, after hearing nothing, on May 10, I called SL Honorary President Brother Edward L. Marek and informed him of what had been done up to that date. He, as all of us know, is a true fraternalist, and was glad to hear that this had been done, and stated that he would go to the SL the next day and see what had developed. He promised that he would call the next day, which he did. He stated that the SL was polling the directors as to a meeting date. We both agreed that this was the fraternal way to settle the question. Then on May 14 (Mother's Day) the Publication Committee had a special meeting and when I asked what the editor was to do about any letters from Lodge No. 111, SL President Morris replied that Lodge No. 111 is non-existant. Your editor felt at that point, that all our efforts had been for nothing. Then on the morning of May 23, I received a letter from Lodge No. 111 Secretary Stovall asking if I could be present at the SL for a meeting of the entire SL and Lodge No. 111 repre-
