FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Article 51 of our By-Laws states: "One of the stipulations must be that one issue of the Vestnik be published two months before the convention which will be exclusively for the reports Of the officers, directors, publication committee, and other standing committees, so that every delegate may have all pre-convention reports together." Therefore, please be advised that the April 19th issue will be very likely completely taken up by these reports. If you desire that anything be published prior to that date, be sure to send it in at least one week earlier than usual. • When we attended the District III spring meeting on Sunday, March 26th, at Lodge No. 25, Ennis, it brought fond memories of a well-planned, inspirational and entertaining gathering at this same modern building just east of Ennis on Highway 34, on November 6-7, 1971. There was a large attendance at the morning session as well as during the afternoon Session. Since the origin of district meetings, this district has created great interest in their duties and activities. They are to be commended for their integrity. It was also very gratifying to attend and witness the outstanding re ports of all the disrict officers. We will touch briefly on some of the

exceeded their quota in 1971. Brother Nesuda gave commendable recognition to: Brother Silas Smith (66), sales champion; Brother James Pavlicek (66), (who was not present), for securing the most members; and Brother Ed Mazanee (65) who was the top organizer. Brother Nesuda also expressed his appreciation to the other organizers for their cooperation, and said he would like to see District III again exceed its quota in 1972. Director Sid Pokladnik gave good reports on both of the rest homes, explained the duties of the director and thanked the membership for their confidence, and read a, letter from Brother Jerry Milan (154), president of the By-Law Committee, who was unable to attend. Brother Pokladnik read some of the proposals by the Supreme Lodge, for the delegates to study. .

interesting reports. DYD Wilma Nesuda jubilantly announced that there were 192 active youth members in District III, with 10 youth clubs, and 8 youth clubs entered in the poster contest. She declared that Lodge No. 56, Waco Youth Club won first place in the poster contest and there was a tie for second place between Lodge No. 84, Dallas Junior and Teen Clubs. Congratulations!
