FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK March 19 — It was our pleasure to be able to attend the spring meeting in District V, which was hosted by Lodge 88 in Houston. The attendance could have been larger but nevertheless, a group of interested members, delegates and guests came 'from near and far to observe the results of the meeting. In this issue you will find District V Secretary Tillie llelmeamp's report, so we will also abstain from repetition; however, all reports were well prepared and presented. Representing the Supreme Lodge were President Nick Morris and family, Treasurer Leonard Mikeska and Wife, and Head Bookkeeper Jerry Mikulas, Jr., and wife. Representation from DiStrict II included Brother Rueben and Sister Jeanette Leshikar of Temple: From District III were Brother Johnnie and Sister Hattie Sebetka, and Brother Vine Ondruse.k of Dallas. District V Director Ernest Hanka and wife, and Rest Home Director J. M. Skrabanek. represented District V, and from District VI were Brother Paul and Sister Angelena Sablatura, of Louise and. DYD Elsie Brdecka and Brother Frank Brdecka of Rosenberg. All the district officers gave an informative report to the attentive audience. DO Evelyn Mikeska reported on the activities in her line of duty. She gave special recognition to the state and district sales champion, Sister

Hanka reported that he had the figures on the final total cost of the Supreme Lodge Hdq. Building which was $907,520.29 and an extra cost of $32,000 for office furniture. He gave a good report on the condition of loans in District V. He reported that he did not always agree with all of the decisions made at the SL, but that he tries to be democratic about his attitude. For fear of too much repetition, we will refrain from too much reporting, feeling that District V Secretary Tillie ifelmeamp will report on this in her minutes.

HAPPY EASTER! Helen Hegwood, and to Sister Della Kadlecek and Sister Lillie Kruse (who was absent) who were also winners of the district, Rest Home Director Brother Skrabanek gave a good overall report which all of us were glad to hear, especially that both homes are filled to capacity and applications are on the waiting list. DYD Geraldine Mikolajewski presented her report of activities for 197172. She commented, about the poster that the youth club of Lodge 88 had won second place at the Texas Fraternal Congress. Sister Mikolajewski also introduced the judges and Miss SPJST candidates. Supreme Lodge President Nick A. Morris brought greetings from the other Supreme, Lodge officers who were unable to attend and reported that SL Secretary Raymond Urbanovsky attended the District I meeting in Kovar. Brother Morris spoke about the growth of the Society; membership now exceeding 45,000.
