OCTOBER 27, 1971
FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Thursday, October 28 is the 53rd anniversary of the Czechoslovak Declaration of Independence which caused the formation of a republic in 1918 resembling the republic of the United States more closely than any other government on the continent of Europe. The operetta "Muziky, Muziky" will be performed at Lodge No. 29 in Taylor, Sunday, October 31. ♦ In the wee hours of July 3, 1970, the members of Lodge 25, Ennis, were shocked and grief stricken when they realized that they lost their nice wooden structure' in a fire, leaving them homeless; however, with a strong determination they began looking to a brighter future, hopefully, that some day their. loss would be replaced by a new building, of which they could be even prouder. The dedication of their new home is scheduled for November 6 and 7. This location is approximately one-half of a mile east of Interstate 45 on the south side of Highway 34. In this issue you will find a picture of the building, and refer to the ad and also complete details of the dedication. On the six-acre tract, they have constructed a beautiful metal and brick building, which will offer space for many activities to serve the purpose for all members of their lodge. They

Throughout our lifetime, growth embodies a willingness to learn, and the gradual assumption of responsibilities. Statistics cannot be refuted. Out of every 100 men starting out at age 25, these situations will prevail 40 years later: 36 will be dead (32 having left no estate); 54 will be dependent on relatives, friends, or charity; 5. will be working for a living; and only 5 will be financially independent. (The source of these figures is the U.S. Department of Commerce). Despite the 40 years in which men have to prepare for old age, only 5 out of 100 win financial independence. Men don't plan to fail -- they fail to plan! The bench in the park is not a pleasant place to spend one's retirement years. (It's cold there in winter). But that is where some have ended due to the lack of planning. All through a man's earning years, he usually can offer plenty of excuses to delay saving money. At age 25, he says "There is plenty of time. I want to have some fun while I'm young." At age 35 "I've
