FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Dedication of Lodge 25, Ennis — the formal opening of the new lodge home on Highway 34 East in Ennis will be held on November G and 7, it has been announced by the local ledge president, Johnie Hrabina. The flag and building dedication will convene at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, followed by open house and dancing in the evening. Sunday, there will be a building-benefit dinner open to the public, to be followed by a program and dancing will be the concluding entertainment of the occasion. The members of Lodge 25 are still accepting contributions and any amount will still be greatly appreciated. Details concerning the program will be announced later. Dedication for Lodge 40, Hillje — preparations are still underway for the official announcement by Brother Paul Sablatura. Many contributions have been made to Lodge 40, and they will be grateful for future contributions as well In the Czech section is a picture of Sister Albina Hurts: in our S.P.J.S.T. In response to the letters, phone calls and personal inquiries, especially those from Lodges 0 and 130, parents and youth leaders, about the delay in publishing the royalty pictures: At the YAD Rayalty contest in Houston September 12th, your editor spoke to Brother Janousek concerning the pictures. He advised me that a commercial photographer would take the "official" photos, the same as had been arranged for by SL President Morris and himself the year before in Temple. He stated that I would receive the photos. As we know, by the letters in
the Vestnik, Bro. Janousek was asked to resign a few days after our conversation. On October 1, Brother Morris called me and stated that the proofs from the developer in Houston had arrived and that he would make the selections and return the proofs and then it would take about ten days to process them. Therefore the pictures should be here soon. We, of course, regret this prolonged delay, which does not do justice to our youth. Parents have many dreams for their children. One is that their youngsters will be bright enough to win an allexpense-paid college education. However, as brilliant as they may be, chances are that even a scholarship won't be sufficient to cover the full cost of a college education. The all-expense-paid scholarship is no longer in vogue. Colleges are now offering combinations of grant-andloan or grant-loan-job arrangements. And the grant or scholarship portion is shrinking as more students seek financial assistance. Thus parents Who are conscientiously planning for their children's education have good reason to be worried about how they will meet the spiraling costs of college training.
