A NFC Resolution NATIONAL FRATERNAL CONGRESS, OF AMERICA Office of the President A Resolution Designating Fraternal Week Coordinating With National Flag Day WHEREAS, The National Fraternal Congress of America has for many years sponsored Fraternal Week, for observance by the 100 member societies of the Congress to acquaint people everywhere with the aims and accomplishments of the Fraternal Benefit System; and WHEREAS, Patriotism based on reverence for our country's ideals and traditions has long been one of the guiding principles of fraternal societies; and WHEREAS, In, order to underscore this patriotic dedication, Fraternal Week has customarily been designated to coincide with the annual observance of National Flag Day on June 14; . therefore be it RESOLVED, That the week beginning Tuesday, June 8, and concluding Monday, June 14, 1971, be hereby designated as Fraternal Week and that member societies of the National Fraternal Congress of America are urged to use every means at their command to focus the attention of their members and of the general public on the fraternal, benevolent, and charitable

character of the system. That National Flag Day, the final day of Fraternal Week, be given appropriate observance by proper display of our National Flag and participation in patriotic public and private ceremonies; and be it further RESOLVED, That this proclamation be communicated to all member societies of the National Fraternal Congress of America and submitted by them 'to their members for implementation. Fraternally, R. R. ' Bryant, President Fraternals Care Members of more than 100 fraternal societies in the United States will join with other millions of patriotic Americans in observing Flag Day, June 14, Flag Day is especially meaningful to them because it is the highlight of

National Fraternal Week, whose theme for 1971 is "Fraternals Care." Annually, bf.itcials cif the National :Fraternal Congress of America have designated the week in June that encompasses Flag Day as an occasional for special observance by their more than 1G million members. This year, National Fraternal Week will be observed June 8 through 14. During this period, fraternalists remind all Americans that a rebirth of patriotism is needed during these: troubled times in order to focus attention on the enduring values of our free society. One way to do that, ac-; cording to fraternal leaders, is for all citizens to fly "Old Glory" whenever possible, but especially on Flag Day, June 14. Fraternalists are urged to !participate in patriotic ceremonies :honoring the Flag of The United States on Flag Day and to conduct special activities during National Fraternal Week calling the attention of the general public to the importance of fraternalism and of the many civic and community services which it inspires. The effort has been endorsed by leaders of government at all levels with many heads of states and municipalities having issued proclamations calling upon citizens to render appropriate attention to Flag Day and National Fraternal Week.
