TO A WONDERFUL MOTHER As one stray sunbeam at twilight renews The mighty glory of the living sun; As one soft word too long withheld can fuse Anew and stronger, two hearts into one; As all the minute artistry within A single flower recalls grand nature's store — Or, passing the blind beggar, e begin To think on our complaints — our gifts galore; In countless trivial ways, as we perceive In one swift glance the fullness of the world, Just so, on Mother's Day can we retrieve In full, past joys in memory impearled, The day so short — the Joys all time would fill! And wrapt in love, dear mother, linger still.
