FEBRUARY 26, 1969

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK The year of 1969 is almost two months old after all of the regular noisy welcomes. We look forward hopefully with an optimistic outlook for the future, for life ahead of us. Somehow, deep within ourselves as fraternalists, we look forward to 1969, as being the year that, we will finally find peace in this world of ours, where the blood of our youth will not he shed on other soil.

If a man sits all day on the banks of a lake with a pole in his hand, people respect him as a " patient fisherman." If he sits on his porch thinking things over, he becomes "that lazy guy down the street."

would it not be a wonderful year, that, before it reaches its conclusion in December, we could say that we have arrived in an era of peaceful atmosphere among mankind, and live for the benefit of his existence rather than use his innovations for his own destruction? Today, we are nurturing, or if you will, helping keep alive the idea that our fore-fathers had in mind when they founded our Society. They felt that they wanted to found and establish a benevolent and fraternal organization that was humanitarian, and with a foundation of brotherhood and a financial investment in case of need and necessity. I am sure that they had no dream that our Society would reach the financial stability that it has as of this date. • We sell life insurance, and all of us are aware of the fact. However, with

the life insurance we sell; we sell more than just assurance that someone will get paid in case of their death; with it we include a fraternalistic and friendly atmosphere, a brotherly helping hand when it is needed, and a fellowship that each of us desire to find as we walk down this path-way of life from the day that we are born to the day that we, in finality bid farewell to this life on earth. • • Your editor was too short on time this week to translate a letter that he wishes to from Bro. Hugo Shefcak at the rest home. I hope to have it in the English section next week. Those who can would be well-advised to read it in the Czech section.
