FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK To almost everyone, there is something good about the word "property", because our society has reserved a place for property, and rightly so. Yet, for people who value property as we do, it is amazing to learn that most persons do not think of life insurance as property. The purpose of property is to appreciate its value or produce income. If we are going to talk about property, then we must examine the circumstances and conditions under which our property might grow and produce income. A farm , will produce income if it will produce a crop which can be sold for a profit. A building will produce income if it is properly managed and kept in good repair, and if it can be rented. Life insurance, the property which we talk about, contracts to produce income under various conditions -namely when income from other Sources has ceased. It will produce income when its owner is old, and it will guarantee to do this for life. We have many fertile and virgin areas to work in. The situation being as it is makes it more necessary that all of us brothers and sisters, lodge representatives, work that much harder to secure new members and more insurance on the books.
There Are At Least Six Mistakes Of Man: 1) The delusion that individual advancement is made by crushing others. 2) The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed or corrected. 3) Insisting a thing is impossible because we ourselves cannot accomplish it. 4) R,efusing to set aside trivial prefererlees, 5. Neglecting development and refinement of mind, and not acquiring habits of reading and studying. 6) Attempting to compel other people to believe and live as we do. Reralecaber and Notice: All aliens (persons living in the United States of America who are not naturalized citizens of this country) must register and file an address in the month of January. Jan. 31, 1969 is the deadline. Any alien may register at any local United States Post Office or at the nearest office of the Naturalization and Immigration Service. Let us write a few words about fraternals as a whole for they were the first democratic societies to be organized in this country. Most all of the
societies keep their level on a horizontal basis, whereas the fraternals brought about the vertical base where it was possible for one to climb from one level to the next. They were the first to give financial aid, personal care and help to individuals, families, and organizations. Yes, fraternities were doing- their part long before this country came un with Social Security. I think that all fraternals should be proud of their heritage and should carry on their traditions. They were one of the first insurance companies and are, today, great financial institutions. With this background of fraternals, their traditions and heritage, it behooves all of us to take an active part in securing new members so that our membership growth in the future will exceed all of the other years and continue to do so in the years to come. Let us hope that as time goes on, we can encourage more and more reactivation of our lodges to fulfill the true mission of fraternal societies. As we look to the year ahead let us pledge ourselves to: 1) Attend meetings of our lodge as frequently as possible; 2) Take a more active part in the fraternal, cultural and recreational
