THOUGHTS . . .
Goldfish and People Do you enjoy looking at goldfish? How wise they look as they swim around in their glass home. Once a housemaid, while cleaning the bowl in which the goldfish lived, discovered that they were not so wise after all. She had filled a large tub with water, so the story goes, and then put the fish into the tub so that they might have a big swim while she was changing the bowl. But did the fish go to the edge of the tub and enjoy a much larger swimming area? They did not. They swam around and around in small circles the size of the glass bowl! Some people, we are reminded, are like that. They became so used to their own ideas and their own limited vision that the moment someone with imagination tries something new, they declare "it can't be done!"
Nothing promotes the feeling of brotherly love among the owners of a business like a healthy monthly profit.
Special Benefits A 75-year old American fraternal organization recently announced special benefits to five categories of its members. The major areas are: (1) financial relief to affected members in declared disaster areas; (2) monetary assistance for members contracting cancer; (3) educational benefits for

There are a multitude of things in your own community that need to be done — all year round, but especially at this time of the year. We are greatly encouraged by the many reports of what the lodges and
youth clubs are doing in the way of charity projects. Be sure and report all such activity on the questionnaire being mailed out by the Supreme Lodge. This is very important. This is a good time of the year to practice charity, and if we are to Continue as a fraternal society, we must continue to increase our charitable efforts in our communities. At the recent Law Committee Section of the National Fraternal Congress, the chairman Of that section had this to say to the fraternal societies present: "This year, 1967, is the base year for which fraternal statistics are being accumulated. In other words, the fraternal activities of 1967 will be reported by you at the close of the year. Your report, along with all the others will be compiled into a report prepared by the Committee on the Preparation of the Fraternal Questionnaire. If you have not already done so, please check with your local lodge units to make certain they are accumulating the material and information in order that they may render a full and complete report at the end of the year. We, on the Law Committee, want you to know that the compilation of fraternal statistics is one of the utmost im-
