FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK HOW MUCH INSURANCE?... Just how much life insurance a person or household should have is a question that has been with us a long time It is impossible with one simple formula. Is $10,000 enough? $20,000? $50,000 or more? It depends on your income , your savings, and the number of persons dependent upon you and how they would be fixed if they should suddenly be deprived of your income because of your untimely death. One must also ask himself: what do I want life insurance to do for me? To answer this you must first ask yourself the following questions: —How much regular income would your family need so that all members can keep functioning without serious dislocation or hardship? —How much cash would your wife require immediately to clear up all final expenses, including a final illness, burial, taxes and outstanding indebtedness? —How much would be needed for education of the children? —After the kids are all grown and have homes of their own, how much would your wife need for financial independence? —How much income would you wish for your retirement? Remember that some of these items depend upon your savings, investments,

BECAUSE OF SOME GOOD ACT Let me today do something that shall take A little sadness from the world's vast store, And may I be so favored as to make Of joy's too scanty sun a little more Let me tonight look back across the span 'Twixt dawn and dark, and to my conscience say Because of some good act to beast or man -The world is better that I lived today. —Anon. pension plans and, of course, upon Social Security. Data recently made public by the U.S, Bureau of the Census show that more than a million new households were established by those under the age of 25 since the beginning of the current decade to March of this year This represented a fifth of the 51/4 million rise in households in the period and it was exceeded only by the age group 55 and over. It marks a reversal of the pattern that prevailed during the Fifties and before. The figures show that households headed by persons under 25 increased by little more than 900,000 for the entire 194780 yeriod, a substantially smaller rise then that of any of the older age brackets. Thus our youngest adults have made more of a contribution to household formation in the last six years than in the previous 13. It reflects the fact that right now the 20 to 25 age group
