FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK WHY PURCHASE LIFE INSURANCE?

QUOTES .. .

None of us would think of driving an automobile on our nation's highways without auto insurance. None of us would put off buying insurance against fire and storm on our homes. Most people have health, hospital and disability insurance, theft and liability insurance on their property, and farmer's buy crop insurance. There is no assurance, indeed, the chances are very slight, that you'll ever need to collect on a claim on any of the above policies. All of this is insurance against what COULD happen. All of these catostrophes are possible, so we insure against them. The holder of a fire insurance policy may live an entire lifetime without filing a fire claim. The one thing that we all KNOW will happen, although we do not know the exact time , or the circumstances, is our own death. Yet, there are still people who fail to purchase life insurance. Of all insurance in the whole world, this one is the most sensible, the most logical to buy.

What is the worth of anything, but for the happiness it will bring?

In the 1700's, people bought life insurance to guarantee a burial fund. Today, all of us are faced with two realities or threats to our loved ones' security: living too long, or dying too soon. If you die too soon, there is the problem facing the widowed wife and the care and raising of the children

Anyone can find excuses; the excep tional man finds a better way. Man is the artificer of his own happiness. -Thoreau ♦ • A man is half whipped the minute he begins to feel sorry for himself, or to spin an alibi with which he would explain away his defects. without the income of the husband. The possibility of an unfortunate and early death faces all of us, and this is the primary and foremost reason for buying life insurance. Life insurance is the only GUARANTEED manner available today by which we can protect our loved ones with the necessities of life in the event of our death. The method is simple: payment of a small monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual premium. Insurance will provide funds at the time when they are needed most. o You may have heard the statement: "The Lord will provide." This may be, but whether He provides your widow and children with a pup tent or a home, with a rub board or a washing mashine, with a bed or a hammock,

depends on what steps you take before you pass on. Like a lot of people, you probably feel that tragedy will never affect you. "Who, me?" you say. Yes, YOU. It happens all the time. Check the daily newspaper. It's all around you. It happens to your neighbor, to the family down the street. When it happens to you, why not be prepared?

Let's look at the business of living too long. All of us look forward to the day when we lay down the tools of daily toil and burdens, when the kids are grown and on their own, when we can sit back and enjoy the fruits of a lifetime of hard work. We will want to enjoy hobbies, relax, do things that we never seemed to get around to. This is REAL retirement. All of us hope we will reach this stage in life, but whether we retire or simply exist depends on what action we take TODAY. Yes, there'll be Social Security, some income perhaps from savings and investments, but will you have as much as you need as long as you need it? You may outlive your savings; your investments may be wiped out by an economic slide one way or the other, and ,Slocial Security won't provide enough for you to live as you'd like. Retirement is then not retirement; you're just living, and th:.'re's little genuine happiness. If you di,ubt any of this, ask the man who is raired to-
