FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK When is a Father just "Dad"? If he's wealthy and prominent, and you stand in awe of him, call him "Father." If he sits in his shirtsleeves at the ball game and picnics, call him "Pop." If he tills the land or labors in overalls, call him "Pa." If he wheels the baby carriage and carries bundles meekly, call him "Papa," with the accent on the first syllable. If he belongs to a literary circle and writes cultural papers, call him "Papa," with the accent on the last syllable. If, however, he makes a pal of you when you are good, and is too wise to let you pull the wool over his loving eyes when you are not; if, moreover, you are sure no one else you know has quite so fine a father, you may call him "Dad." * * Our visit to the District VI sales representatives' banquet was enjoyable and we were certainly glad that we were able to attend. We arrived before the social, however, all present were mingling and greeting one another with true, friendship which is always present in our SPJST gatherings, especially at all socials. Brother and Sister Smajstrla, as only they can be, were very cordial hosts and served a very delicious meal treating all present with true hospitality and entertainment. SFM Silas Smith presented SR Frankie Vanek with a plaque for

SYD Dorothy Massey was present and encouraged all to help in the youth programs. District VI sales representatives turned out in good attendance and showed that they had interest in our Society's growth. Here we would like to mention that it was indeed a pleasure to
meet, again, with quite a number of faithful hard workers, namely Brothers Paul and Pete Sablatura, Matt Vanek, Fr. Brdecka and DYC Elsie Brdecka, etc., only to name a few: Keep up the good work! * * Here your editor would like to call attention to the fact that some of the pictures in our Vestnik are not of the best quality. Allow me to quote what was said to the delegates at the last SPJST (XXIst) convention by yours truly: "You cannot expect a good picture in the paper if the original picture is of poor quality, regardless of what method of printing you use, be it letterpress or offset or other. Do not blame the publishing company in those cases." Pictures with poor contrast and poor light are poor in reproduction, no matter who the photographer was. It is appropriate here, we feel, to once again tell all our contributors that Polaroid and color pictures JUST DO NOT reproduce well! Our position has been to do our utmost not to reject any photos, if it is at all possible, however, we continually have the prospect that the pictures will be of poor quality and not be up to the standards for which we strive.
