FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Sunday, May 10, Mother's Day, our family visited mother and grandmother Theresa Sefcik at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home No. 1 in Taylor. We were glad to see her and of course, she was especially glad to see her two grandsons. We took the camera along and, with the help of Mrs. Kovar and my Wife, Maxine, I had a chance to take quite a number of pictures of the guests there; our senior citizens, many of them the founders of many of our various lodges. They will appear in a future issue. We wish to remind you of the lecture by Dr. Vacla y Hunacek of Charles University in Czechoslovakia, at Lodge No. 66 Elm Mott, Sunday, May 24. Refer to Brother Otto Hanus' letter in this issue. Lodges 20, 29, 48, 80 and 174 are having a Frontier Day's Rodeo Sunday, May 24 at Lodge No. 29, Taylor. You are cordially invited and will find particulars in Sister Jerlene Baiusek's letter. e
Students are advised to read the letter and information from Texas A8z.M, University about summer coupes. A form is also included in this issue of the Vestnik which may be mailed to the university requesting additional information.
BEAUTY By Helen Vacek You are a sob, a tear in a lilting throat, Eestacy, swift as a soaring bird, A ripple of waters — elusive note — You beckon, a whisper hastily heard. I find you in the light of hungry eyes, In laughter warning on quivering lips; A flaring ember, that windswept, dies, Scarce is suffused your fingertips. The fragrance of a pale crushed flower, Trampled blossom, bleeding its ache; that throbs for a bjreathless hour, Vanishes, ere the illusion should break. You, a cobweb brushing an eager face, That drinks the rains' virgin patter of sleet — Ecstatic in the breezes, embraced, It tarries itself at Nature's feet. You are the youth someone missed today, In straying from the gale-Swept path, In fingertips, groping, grasping the way, You are a blind one's determined wrath. Beauty lies in the depth of heart, And all those vague, intangible things, That lift out lives to a lofty start; Molding the image to which man clings.
