FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK Another historic day to look forward to. You will want to help celebrate another milestone when our Society has the dedication of Lodge Friendship No. 174, Rockdale, Sunday, April 19 at the VFW Hall in Rockdale. SL President Nick A. Morris and SL Secretary R. A. Urbanovsky will preside over the initiation proceedings. Also, a number of dignitaries and political figures are expected to be on hand.

An outstanding youth program is in store for you with Lodges 29 and 174 participating, and the well-known "Young Loves" of Granger will perform for us. A cordial invitation is extended to everyone from the members of Lodge 174. Let us give them our full support and display fraternalism! (Refer to the Outlined program of the dedication in this issue).

Congratulations are in order for our 1969 State Champion organizer: Sister Mildred Holeman (88) with the largest amount of sales, and Sister Della Kadlecek (88) with the most members written. In this issue, and the two before, in the back pages of the Vestnik you probably have seen or can see an ad and a coupon for free passes to a program Sunday, April 19 which will be given for the benefit of anyone desiring information on travel to Czechoslovakia. It is offered for the public benefit by Mr. Maurice Kovar, whom your editor knows personally, of Executive Services, Inc., and the CSA (Czechoslovak Airlines) which begins jet service May 4 to the USA and Canada. Anyone desiring this information or having an interest in travel to Czechoslovakia should avail themselves of this informational occasion.

This is the first such service ever offered to the Citizens of Czech descent that we are aware of. As we understand the information, this is an effort to give you each a more or less custommade trip as you may desire. Check the "Travel With Flair" ad if you are interested.

Wednesday, April 15, 1970 But endowment policies are a major exception. An endowment plan is basically a guaranteed savings fund backed by life insurance. It guarantees that a savings goal will be achieved whether you live or die. To accomplish this, it builds cash value much more rapidly than other types of policies.

Tax Considerations In considering the growth rates of endowment policy cash values and interest rates available on other forms of savings under today's ,unusual monetary conditions, there are a number of tax and other factors that ,continue to make endowment policies ilttractive.

The principal tax considerations are: 1. No federal income taxes are payable on increments to the cash value of any life insurance policy as long as the policy continues in force. Any tax liability is postponed until either the policy matures or you cash it in.

2. If the policy matures after you retire, your income tax on the proceeds may be substantially reduced, since you will likely be in a lower tax bracket.

3. Your income tax at maturity is based on the proceeds of the policy less the net amount it has cost you (your total premium payments through the years, reduced by any policy dividends you may have received). This will probably result in lower income taxes than you would pay on the total interest earnings from an equivalent amount put into term insurance and a savings account — even at today's unusually high interest rates on savings.

4. Your overall income tax may be further reduced if you choose to receive the proceeds as periodic income payments over a certain number of years or for the rest of your life, rather than in a lump sum.

5. Any policy dividends that you may receive have the effect of increasing your "yield" from an endowment policy, but no income taxes are payable on these dividends at the time you receive them. ((However, by reducing the overall cost of your policy, the dividends may result in a higher tax liability later on when the policy matures).

6. If you should die before the policy matures, normally no income taxes 'whatsoever are payable on any part of the proceeds although the proceeds become part of your estate for purposes Of death taxes.

Wednesday, April 15, 1970 Competitive 'Yield' These tax considerations can make the "yield" from an endowment policy fully competitive with the high interest rates that banks are currently paying on savings accounts. Furthermore, there is no certainty that today's high interest rates will continue in the years ahead. But the "yield" on an endowment policy is guaranteed as long as the policy is in force (except policy dividends, which can't be guaranteed).

With the tax considerations, an endowment policy can be an ideal vehicle for accumulating a retirement fund while at the same time providing some additional life insurance for your family. The tax features can also be helpful in accumulating college funds or reaching other savings goals.

"Retirement income" policies are a special form of endowment life insurance (with all its tax considerations) that puts even greater emphasis on savings. For example, a $10,000 policy will pay you a lifetime income of $100 a month starting at retirement age (usually 65). To guarantee this income requires a cash value of around $16,000 at age 65 — which means that a retirement income plan must build a cash value larger than the face amount of the policy, and must carry an even higher premium rate than a regular endowment policy spanning the same age period. If you should die before the policy matures, your family would get either the face amount of the policy or the cash value, whichever were larger.

• • Mrs. Melada Sottek was honored at her home with a surprise party celebrating her 70th birthday. Refreshments were served to approximately 60 friends and relatives and all officers of Lodge 76. She has four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren who alSo are members of SPJST Lodge No. 76.

• • Sister Kamila Fojtasek Sramek, age 81, passed away April 5, 1970, in Fort Worth. She was laid to eternal rest in the Seaton Cemetery and was a member of Lodge Ennis No. 25, Ennis.

Bro. Fritz J. Miman, age 47 passed away March 29, 1970 in Johnson City Hospital, Johnson City, Texas. He was placed to rest in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Johnson City, and was a member of Lodge 7 Rovnost, Caldwell.

Bro. Dwight B. Loeb, Sr., died March 9, 1970, at the age of 76 in Richmond, Texas. He was buried in Emanuel Memorial Park, Houston, and was a member of Lodge 81, Needville.

Bro. L. C. Schiller, age 87, passed away April 3, 1970 in Temple. He was interred in the Ocker Brethren Cemetery, and was a member of Lodge 24 Cesky Prapor, Cyclone.

Features Dear Mr. Sefcik, Enclosed you will find an article on Nancy Zalmanek and a picture. I would appreciate it if you ran this as a feature article. I think our teens deserve recognition of their good deeds.

Miss Nancy Zalmanek, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Zalmanek of 1838 Seamist, Houston. She is a member of the Waltrip imperial Guard, vice-president, of the National Honor Society, vice-president of the National Forensic League, secretary of Mu Alpha Theta, a member of the Science Club, German Club, and Number Sense.

She has been one of Waltrip's outstanding debaters, winning a first at the Corpus Christi tournament last year, second at Reagan, second at Bellaire, second at Lee in Baytown, and she placed No. 1 in Oratory at the NFL District Tournament held at Waltrip, March 13-14. For this last winning she will get to go to the National Tournament in Kentucky. She is the first one to go from Waltrip in ten years. In informative speaking, she was a firstplace winner in district and fourth in region. She was named outstanding girl debater last year.

For her college, Miss Zalmanek is

SISTER NANCY ZALMANEK considering Texas Tech, Lamar Tech, or the University of Houston and she plans to major in chemistry, but later hopes to earn a law degree.

She won the achievement award given by the SPJST Lodge and was runner-up for state queen. She has been active in the CYO at All Saints Catholic Church. At Hamilton, she was a member of the NJHS,• the Speech Club, Student Teachers, won first in ready writing and placed second in ciry competition.

In June, Nancy is going with the Waltrip imperial Guard on their Senior trip to Miami and Nassau. This is one of Lodge 88's proudest teens and I believe we should all give this young and talented Miss congratulations for doing so well in all the clubs and organizations she belongs to. We wish her the best in the future.

Nancy ranks No. 1 in Waltrip's 1970 graduating class. She is also a nominee for the Jones Scholarship Award.

LETTE S A LETTER OF THANKS AND APPRECIATION To all our members, my relatives and friends for the kind visits, gifts, flowers, cards and letters of encouragement while I was confined to the hospital at two consecutive times for two major - surgeries and to the 18 blood donors who replaced the 9 units of blood used before and after my surgery.

I am unable to find the proper words to express the warm and comforting feelings in my heart for your kind encouragement during my illness.

Also special thanks to the officers, directors, office employees and district organizers for their fine efforts and cooperation in carrying on the work in my department during my absence from the office.

I am now recuperating nicely and hope my doctor will release me for at least part-time work next week.

(Pavlica) Bolton, Secretary SPJSTDEDICATION OF LODGE FRIENDSHIP NO. 174, ROCKDALE. — Program — The scene of the dedication of the newest lodge of the SPJST, Lodge 174, Rockdale, will be the VFW Hall in Rockdale on Sunday, April 19, 1970, The hall is located two miles west of Rockdale on Hwy. 79.

The program will start at 1:30 p.m. and dedication and initiation of the members of the lodge will take place immediately after brief opening remarks. SL President Nick A. Morris and SL Secretary R. A. Urbanovsky from SPJST headquarters in Temple will preside over the initiation proceedings, during which the charter of the new lodge will be presented, along with the lodge banner and other credentials. A number of dignitaries and political figures are expected to be on hand.

After the formal installation ceremonies, the youth of SPJST Lodge 29, Taylor, will dance the Beseda folk dance, and the "Young Loves", a sextet from Granger, will sing a number of selections. The youth of Lodge 174 will then present a few numbers.

LODGE NO. 88, HOUSTON

Dear Members and Friends, The Easter Season has gone by and before we realize it, summer will be here. Many of us are looking forward to the warm weather so that we can go swimming and enjoy the comfort of the pool.

The Swimming Pool Committee announced the pool will open Sunday, May 17 and the regular annual Splash Day festivities, Sunday, June 7. Swimming passes may be obtained in advance. For more information, call 8695767.

NAMES IN THE NEWS: Joe Patek and his band played for the regular Saturday night dance April 4. Sister Clara Jecmenek celebrated her birthday at this dance. Helping her celebrate the occasion were her husband, Tom, their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Walker and many of their Lodge 88 friends. We wish to extend cur wishes for many more happy birthdays to Sister Clara and also to Sister Della Kadlecek and Brother Louis Kusy who also celebrate birthdays this month.

Rudy, Alena and Peter Polak of Brno, Czechoslovakia, are making their home here in Houston. Alena is the cousin of Sister Patsy Baca. Welcome to Houston and Lodge 88.

The SPJST Lodge No. 88 Choral Croup and the Gil Baca Band will perform at the Music Theater Sharpstown, 7246 Southwest Freeway, Sunday, April 19, 1970 between 2 and 2:30 p.m.

grain of Czechoslovakia. Master of ceremonies will be Chuck Schwartzkopf and Mrs. Mary Baca will be his right hand in assistance with the program.

Clarence Baca is mighty proud of his latest recording on the Patsy label the -Farmer's Waltz", and on the other side is the "Corn Cockle Polka."

Sister Evelyn Mikeska, District V Organizer, held a one-night insurance seminar for the District V organizers, Monday night, April 6 at Lodge No. 142. Interesting discussions were held regarding our insurance program, and hopes were expressed that we can have them more, often.

Thanks to Brother and Sister Clarence and Patsy Baca for their generous donation of three concrete tables for the Lodge 88 recreation park.

One table in the memory of the John R. Baca Band of Fayetteville from Clarence Baca, one in memory of Sister Patsy's parents, Clern and Katherine Strouhal of Hungerforcl, and one table in the name of Clarence and Patsy Baca. These are lifetime tables and the names are inscribed in them.

They will be a lasting memorial at our lodge. Thank you, Clarence and Patsy!

Sunday, May 3, will be Western Day here at Lodge No. 88. At noon a friedchicken dinner will be served, then from 2 to 9 p.m. you can dance to the swinging western music of the Suniland Cowboys and the Swinging Strings. Proceeds will go to the 1972 Convention Committee Fund.

Our dance schedule for the rest of the month of April is: Saturday, April 18 — Vrazels; and Saturday, April 25, the Hi-Toppers. Plan to come out for an evening of dancing pleasure.

The monthly meeting of lodge members is Monday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m.

Plan to attend the meetings; they are important.

5 District I at the spring meeting which was hosted by Lodge No. 39 in Bryan on March 22. Brother Jakubik's achi)vements also score a point for the "hjme team."

The regular monthly meeting was held April 5, at 2 p.m. preceded by a covered dish dinner. The welcome sight of Ole' Sol enticed more of our members out of hibernation and a fine time was had by all. We were very honored to have with us, Brother John Skrabanek, who, for a good Waalbee of his 80 odd years, has been a member of SPJST Lodge No. 9. Also present were new member, Brothei Ernest Shopoe from Somerville, aria his brother, Mr. Bobby Shoppe, who is :orrently running for Burleson Coanty Commissioner.

During the meeting it was vote 1 to begin painting the lodge hall byre ans of membership participation, and the first work shift swung into action Friday, April 10. The older members of our youth club kindly consente41 to babysit during this quest, so hats off to you girls. Future improvements will include installation of draperies and refinishing of the parking area, and as additional work nights are voted upon, notices to that effect will be posted around town. Every member is requested to come out and do his or her part, because this is your lodge, for you and your children to enjoy, and an asset to your community. Let's make it something in which we can all take pride.

I might add that any non-member volunteers from the community will be welcome and their help will be greatly appreciated.

There is a dance scheduled April 25, with the Rhythm Tones providing the vibrations (music). Hopefully, the painting will be completed by that time, but if not, we feel sure everyone will excuse the appearance of the hall.

The next monthly meeting and covered dish dinner will be held on Sunday, May 3, and all members, young and old alike, are urged to join the fun.

On Saturday, April 18 our lodge will have a barbecued chicken and country sausage dinner served with all the trimmings. We will start serving dinner at 11:30 a.m. and will serve till late in the evening, so brothers and sisters, bring your friends, relatives, or guests and come have dinner at the lodge. We are always happy to see all of you come.

Our next monthly lodge meeting will not be held on the first Sunday in May. It will be held on a Friday night, May 8, at 8 p.m. instead, so please take notice of this change, and try to attend the meeting.

Dear Members, Our April 5 meeting was called to order by our president, Bro. Eugene Hausler. Bro. Haisler also led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

First of all, I would like to mention that the sick benefit by-law has been voted out. Everyone agreed that the lodge stop paying sick benefits since the lodge was losing money on it. There will be more on this in a later issue of the Vestnik.

There will be a social held Friday, April 17 at 7:30 at the hall, so bring your cards and dominoes and come out and have some fun. Be sure to invite some friends, since visitors are always welcome. Later there will be a lunch served. The ladies are asked to bring sandwiches, pastries, kolache, or whatever, they wish to bring. Drinks will be furnished. Make sure you mark this date down: April 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Then the nominating committee was selected by President Vanicek and Vice-President John Kohut. These are: Brothers Frankie Novosad, WiNiam Kosarek, Frank Spanhel, Clarence Sodek and Willie Kohutek. These members may be contacting some of you for some lodge office.

New business included the last details for the District II spring meeting. Then the matter of the septic tank and the lateral lines were brought up and the trustees were given the goahead to remedy the situation.

She also reminded everyone about the cake walk to be held following the meeting. fghe then presented the birthday cake to Bro. Vernon Wood, Jr., and Bro. Rudolf Vicha who have birthdays in April.

Each committee chairman gave very favorable reports.

The Trustees reported on the progress of the new addition. They stated that in their plans they had failed to allow for a storage area. They suggested that we allow for this.

New members accepted are: Sherry Denise Rose; Walter Cecil Middleton, Kathy Ellen Breitkreutz, Charles Wilber Pavelka, Gary Lynn Brown, Florence Esta Frazier, and Jeryl Keith Robinson.

Paid-up members are: Richard L. Adamek, Paul E. Adamek, and Daniel Beralek.

Under old business it was voted to go ahead and have the carpenters put in a place for storage in the new addition.

Under new business Bro. Vernon Wood, Jr., of Lodge 35 would consider hosting the Diirict III fall meeting. It was voted that we would.

The May meeting date was set for the third Sunday,. as Mother's Day falls on our regular date. Remember that will be May 17 for our May meeting.

The Sick Committee reported that Sister Albina Farek and Sister Vlasta Pavelka were both in the hospital after suffering heart attacks. Also Carl Dennis Webb had been taken to the hospital after bein thrown by a horse. We wish all of these members a very speedy recovery.

Bro. Albert Banik stood in for Bro. Rudolph Zalrnan and handed out the refund checks.

The door prize was won by Jim Peehacek.

There was no further business so the meeting was adjourned. Everyone then enjoyed a delicious supper of fried chicken. Hope to see all of you at our May meeting.

This was followed by mention of the correspondence received within the past month.

It looked like the Month of the Men when the door prizes were given. All our winners were men — Mr. J. P. Munsch, Mr. Stanley Kutac, and Mr. H. L. Wendt. The youth prizes were split — Judy and Julius Tobola were the winners. Mrs. Ben Bolech won the January, February and March birthday cake. Mrs. 13olech also volunteered to bake the cake for the next sScial.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing dolninos, visiting, eating, and drinking.

The next meeting will be held on April 19th at Slovacek's Ballroom again. Everyone try to make it to the meeting for at least a short while.

The Birthday Club meeting was greatly saddened by the death of Rosie Zimmerman. She was a hard worker and a charter member of the club. A moment of silence in her memory was held in the meeting for her, and Millie Altman. A donation was sent to the Mernori q l Fund in her memory froin the Birthday Club. He is a faithful supporter of the Birthday Club.

Ellen Gill and family are going to New Braunfels for the weekend. Josephine Burl and husband took several trips. They visited her mother, Julia Jalufka, at the Brookshire Arms nursing home, in Brookshire, Texas. They went to Palacios, to their Bay Shore Drive home, and also to New Bilge to visit their cousins the James Marek Family. Her son and wife, Jo ann and Fred Buri have just purchased a new ranch-style home.

Emma Ja.risch is planning to go to Big Bend Natural Park. Louise Kadlecek and family went to Salado, for the Easter egg hunt. They visited with her sister, Mrs. Frank Naivar. Her daughter, Mary Louise, Frankie, and Johnny Niavar were on a rattlesnake hunt and their rattlesnake won a prize.

Anna Vrla visited with her daughter, Mrs. Edgar Anderson in Alvin. Daisy Drab had her 89th birthday at a large birthday party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stepen Kelly. Her great-grandson, Steven, helped her blow out the candles. She found an Easter egg with $200 in it, and also got a color TV. Della Kadlecek's sons, both have wedding anniversarys. Margaret and Charles Kadlecek will celebrate their first anniversary and Jimmy Kadlecek will celebrate their fourth.

The last of the tablecloths were cut out by Birdie Hilsher and Mary Kalousek. Dear Members, Our meeting last Sunday was called to order by Brother August Pustejovsky. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and followed by a moment of silence held in memory of our departed brce. thers, namely, Brothers Albin R. Sulak and Ben J. Vanzura.

The minutes of our previous meeting were read by „Brother Frank Cocek and were approved as read.

A letter of sympathy was read and sent to the bereaved family of Brother Albin R. Sulak who passed away on March 9.

Brother Sulak was a member of our lodge for many years. He served as president, as vice-president, and was on the auditing committee. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery at West. Survivors include his wife, Josephine; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Kolar, and Jane Sulak, three sons, Albin, Jr., Mcihael, and Tim Sulak; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Sulak, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Shebesta; two nieces and a nephew.

May our departed brother rest in peace.

And a letter of sympathy was read and sent to the bereaved family of Brother Ben J. Vanzura who passed away on Wednesday, April 1. Brother Vanzura was a member of our lodge for many years.

Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Survivors include his wife; one son, Albert T. Vanzura; one daughter, Mrs. Eleilora Vrba; two sisters, Mrs. Vince Sula and Mrs. Frances Pustejovsky and five grandchildren.

May our departed brother rest in peace.

There was a nomination made in order to get someone to replace Brother Albin Sulak who was our vice-president and auditor at the time of his death. Brother Frank H. Soukup was nominated and elected to be our vicepresident, and Brother Ernest Zahirniak was nominated and elected to the auditing committee.

The attendance prize was won by Brother Joe Mazanec, Sr. At the time of this writing I have learned that Sister Stevie Pustejovsky has undergone surgery Thursday morning in Providence Hospital in Waco. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Dear members, don't forget that our next meeting will be on May 3, at 3 p.m. It would be nice to see more members come to the meetings, especially since the time is one hour later.

LODGE NO. 6, COTTONWOOD Dear Members and Friends, There certainly has been a lot of activity at Lodge 6 lately, including the recent Easter supper and Easter egg hunt on March 22, the regular monthly meeting on Sunday, April 5, and the April 10 hayride for the youth at Cottonwood, who were invited by those of Elk. Also, there will be the Cottonwood School Reunion on June 14, and the annual Cottonwood picnic slated for Sunday, July 26..

At the regular monthly meeting Sunday, April 5, Bro. Arnold Kasberg, Jr., presided. He asked the youth of the lodge to lead in the pledge to the U. S. flag, and then Debbie Uptmore read the SPJST pledge. Committee reports were given and guests were introduced. They included Bill Mangum of Waco and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smetak of the West area. It was nice to have such a good crowd on such a nice day.

Sister Ruth Krizan reported that cards had been sent out to two sick people who now seem to be recovered.

They are Eiclward Helona and Supreme Lodge Vice-President Joe B. Hejny.

There was no old, business, but under new business were the following events: June 14 — Cottonwood School Reunion; July 26 — Cottonwood's anmal picnic, and it was voted to change the social nights from Wednesday to Friday nights. This will allow the children more time to work on their projects without having to worry about school the next day.

Bro. George Straten, Jr., was appointed chairman of the upcoming picnic while co-chairmen will be Brothers Arnold Kasberg, Jr., and John J. Mynar. The picnic will find plenty Of games, an auction, prizes, supper, and a dance this year, so keep July 26 marked on the calendar for this attraction.

Bro. Alvin Schuetz was accepted as new organizer for the lodge, making a total of six. Six new members and a transfer from Lodge 23 were also accepted.

The door prizes, in the amounts of $10 and $7 were not won since Vlasta Blaha of Abbott and Raymond J. Hromadka were not present for this meeting.

LODGE NO. 87, TEMPLE Our lodge will celebrate its 60th anniversary on Sunday, April 26. It took Lodge 87 55 years before we had our lodge hall built. I think of our faithful members who have kept this lodge going for so many years. Most of these first members have departed, but our thoughts are still with them and since they are no longer with us, this 60th anniversary is dedicated to their memory. I know if they could be with us to help us celebrate, they would be as proud as we are of them. Anyway, this SPJST celebration will go down in history as a tribute to their success.

Congratulations to the officers and members who have worked through these many years for a job well done! and may Lodge 87 continue to progress.

(In my report for January, I omitted the third place in the number of members and it went to Brother Sidon Tunis of Lodge 142 with 8. I am sorry I left his name off). Keep up the good work.

I want to thank all of the organizers for the wonderful job they have done in the month of February. Let's all see what we can do for our lodges and SPJST in the months to come.

Our quota is $3,175,000 for 1970, and two months have past by fast. Let's see how soon we can write our quota. I feel we are all sisters and brothers at heart, so let's all do our share. This is our SPJS T_ Let's see what all we can do to make it our No. 1 Fraternal Insurance Company. Let's all remember if we do not gain any new members then our lodges are at a standstill. DISTRICT SEVEN ORGANIZ177.'S REPORT

First' of all, I want to congratulate all the organizers in District 7 ler their fine job in 1969. Although we failed to meet our quota; we did increase our sales by 19 per cent over the average of the past three years. As you all know, our quota for 1970 is $425.000, and if we can continue with another 19 per cent increase over our total 1969 sales, we should have no trouble meeting our quota.

For your efforts our district won a' $50 prize for being one of the thirdplace winners. This money will be used toward an organizers' social in our district. We also have another $50 in escrow which was won in 1968. I plan in the near future to have a social night for the organizers; one in the southern part of the district and one In the northern part. I will keep you informed when and -where.

We want to welcome Adolph Bassin,

who is president of Lodge Anton Cermak No. 56 in Corpus Christi, into our ranks of organizers. We are looking forward to big things from you, Bro. Adolph.

Our 1970 sales have gotten oft' to a very slow start with only 37.5M being sold in the first two months. We must average this amount monthly to meet our quota. I know things will pick up.

I note with pride that over 97 „per cent of all insurance written in District VII is placed. This shows careful consideration of prospects by our organizer's. Be selective — do not sell just for the sake of selling. We had a total of 11M in our district that was rejected or refused. This is a fine record.

I want to take time to congratulate Brother's Frank C. Sacky (79), and J. M. ,Skrabanek (139), for the tremendous job they are doing in leading the organizers in the Application-a-Month Club. Also, Sister Helen Hegwood (88) and Sister Della Kadlecek (88) for their outstanding job in the Application-a-Week Club. Can you picture yourself writing an application a month for over 8 year, or an application a week for over 5 years? (I'M the leader in the "Application-Now-and-Then Club"!).

Besides Bro. Sacky, we of District 7 also have Helen Pavelka (117) who has written an application per month for the past 45 months.

The above-mentioned two clubs are open to all organizers and I would like to see more of our District VII organizers join these two fine clubs.

RESULTS OF 196.9 SALES CONTEST BETWEEN OUR SEVEN DISTRICTS First place winners of a $100 award are organizers of Districts 1 and 2.

Distrct 1 had a sales increase over the past three previous years of 65 per cent and District 2 had a sales increase of 33 per cent.

Second place winner of $75 are the organizers of District 6, with an increas:3 of 31 per cent.

Third place winners of $50 are organizers of District 7 and District 3, with an increase in sales of 19 and 16 per cent respectively.

The award money is to be used towards an organizers' social.

13 FROM THE OFFICE OF THE STATE YOUTH DIRECTOR MAY WILL BE YOUTH CLUB ELECTION MONTH Dear Readers, The weeks will be passing away rather quickly until your youth club will once again be electing officers and committee chairmen for another youth year. Remember this is not a popularity contest and your vote should be for the one best suited and not best liked.

Herein are listed the suggested slate of officers and committees for all youth clubs. Your club has the option to add additional positions as well as co; bine the duties of some of those Misted.

Above all, each position carries important responsibilities and the person elected is expected to perform the duties assigned. Failure to do so weakens your club's progress.

Also included is a Self Evaluation Test for those serving in your youth club. It is included to help you see how you rate and what you,,-deed to do to improve your part as a youth club member.

There are many new and exciting plans in store for youth clubbers in 1970-71. You can plan now to do your part and be included in the terrific benefits that will be available.

Officers and Duties: 1. President a. Presides over the meetings with an impartial attitude b. Official representative of the club c. Responsible for club action 2. Vice-President a. Your interest with this project will determine the special planned day of fun during the summer months. A prize will be awarded to the individual who turns in the most. Goo d luck and do a lot of searching.

The Stanley Products sale is here again. If anyone has any problem. I will try my best to help. There are several good sales workers in our group.

Let's se some followers because the individual with the highest sales will be a grand winner.

Ice Follies will take place on April 25 in Dallas. Transportation is needed.

Any parent who is interested in helping out, please give me a ring. The group will leave Ennis at 3:30 and return around 8:30. Tickets have been purchased for you and all I need is your okay. This ice show will be most enjoyable because Peggy Fleming, World Champion Figure Skater, will be the guest star.

The youth club also made a donation to the Southern District Sokol Slet Program which will be held in Ennis this summer.

Louis Mikel was the winner of the door prize at the meeting. This door prize was a bird cage.

This is a very important meeting because our District Youth Director, Mrs. Lola Vavra, will meet with us, so I hope everyone will make your plans accordingly. We have to set the date for our skating party which we discussed at our March meeting.

Actually, she spoke at the conclusion of the adult meeting; immediately preceding the youth meeting. She gives such a good message that we felt everyone should have the opportunity to hear it. Jean's comments were on: "The Communistic Movement in the United States". To gather some of her information, she has attended seminars sponsored by the Farm Bureau. A very good speaker, Jean has spoken to various civic and church groups. Congressman Jake Pickle has invited her to go to Washington to attend the Presidential Classroom for Young Americans. This is a study of the different departments of the Federal Government.

Wanda Wi'esner was elected May Fete queen, this event is to take place on May 17 at the lodge hall. We invite everyone to make plans to be with us.

Leona Stalmach Youth Leader LODGE 153, LA SALLE Dear Readers, It was a colorful afternoon for the members of our club who attended our

15 annual Easter Monday get-together.

We started the afternoon by playing ball. Several months ago we started a voluntary sports equipment fund to purchase playground items for the club.

We now have 2 balls and 2 bats that we used for the first time. After several rounds of the game, we paused for refreshments.

Our next venture was a test for accuracy with darts. First teams raced to blow up balloons and then they challenged for points with the darts.

- As the two teams busied themselves with the darts, a big make believ*bunny was busy hiding eggs. In tlle eggs that were hidden, there were eggs with the names of the attending club members. Everybody found some eggs and When the final count was taken and the eggs all accounted for, two members had found their own name eggS. The winners of the egg hunt were Debbie LedkinS and -Keith Dyson: They received chocolate bunnies as prizes, and the eggs were equally divided among the youth.

We also had a decorated egg contest. Dais certainly gratifying to see the interest that the youngsters put into decorating eggs. They were beautiful!

Everyone deserved a prize and so that is just .what happened: , each participant received an award. Thank you boys and girls for your splendid cooperation in making the afternoon enjoyable for everyone and also to Mrs. Ledkins for helping us.

LODGE NO. 47, SEATON Dear Members and Friends: Last Sunday, we held our monthly meeting with a good attendance. There were 61 youth present and 1 visitor.

Sister Jerlene Balusek DYD, was at our teen meeting and made a short talk to the youth. After we adjourned, she gave the youth a "quiz" in the line of "Human Relations" and following directions. Most of the youth were very enthused with the quiz and certainly did enjoy it. Thank you Sister 73alusek for being with us.

The youth would like to thank Brother and Sister Clarence Sodek for a $15 donation to the youth club.

will all meet at Parkview Grocery at 7 p. m. and then proceed to Temple Lanes. We should, be back at Parkview between 10:30 and 11 for you to pick up your children.

On April 21, at 7:30 p, m. we will have liquid embroidery for only those who haven't finished their project. We will not begin any new items at this time. This will be in conjunction with the board meeting.

On April 24 at 6 p. m., the juniors will have their social which will be volleyball and other outdoor games.

The parents are to bring sandwiches and cookies and the youth club will furnish the chips and the drinks.

Remember this date and plan to be with us.

I also forgot to mention that the president of our mother lodge, Johnnie Vanicek, had a birthday on the day of the meeting, and many of the members brought cakes and we all enjoyed cake and coffee alter the meeting. Most of the youth said "they were surprised to see so much cake" and were about as surprised about it as Brother Johnie.

Then they went outs and had a good softball game.

The Beseda dancers and myself are looking forward to dancing the Beseda at Rockdale. We'd like to see all of you out there.

School is almost over. Just six more weeks and school will be out and I will be able to write more letters in the Vestnik.

On May 3 is May Fete Day at our lodge. It's an evening activity and everyone is welcome to come. There will be plenty of food and drinks.

Our next meeting will be May 10. It will be election day. Everyone try to come and vote. Remember, it's your vote that counts. As president I hope that we will do as well as we did last year, I enjoyed being president.
