Pastor’s Perspective I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” -Psalm 122:1 I love churches. My great-grandfather was a Pentecostal preacher who pioneered many congregations across Texas and Oklahoma in the early 1900’s. Though I never met him, his life and legacy inspire me. I’ve heard numerous stories of brush arbor revivals, powerful seasons of prayer and worship, and miraculous manifestations of God’s presence and power that occurred in those small Gospel outposts. I’ve always been enamored with church buildings. Years ago, my Mom worked as the administrator for our church, and my Dad served on the board, so as a young boy, my brother and I spent many days (and some nights) roaming the halls of the church. I still love touring and exploring them; I like to explore all of the ‘nooks and crannies,’ the classrooms, and even the back closets where the props and decorations are stored. I’ve been in full-time ministry at three different churches since 1999. During that time, I’ve attended hundreds of events at various church locations…funerals, weddings, Fine Arts Festivals, conferences, conventions, District Councils…the list goes on and on. I’ve walked through many church hallways,
sat in numerous sanctuaries, and prayed at several altars. I’m always excited to be in the house of God. But I’ve learned that nothing compares to being with the people of God. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us, “Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” Here at SpiritCHURCH, there is so much love, joy, and peace present when we surround ourselves with those called to be ‘the temple of the Lord’ (1 Corinthians 6:19). I believe that we have one of the most beautiful church buildings on the planet, but there is nothing more beautiful than when we gather together to worship and adore our Savior. Let us be glad every time we enter the house of the Lord! -Pastor Jason
PS: Robyn, Ryan, Kate, and I have been overwhelmed by the love and support you have demonstrated to our family over the past month. We are so excited to get fully moved to Bartlesville and start our new journey with the SpiritCHURCH family. We look forward to seeing you soon!
