Message from the Chair and Co-chair of the Scientific Planning committee:
Dear Colleagues and Participants,
As the Chair and the Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee, it is our honor to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you on the first Canadian SIH Conference.
Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension (SIH) is a debilitating condition that profoundly impacts the quality of life for those affected. Unfortunately, there exists a significant lack of awareness and understanding surrounding this ailment, not only in Canada but globally. This deficit in awareness translates into challenges in patient referral, diagnosis, and treatment, further exacerbating the burden on those already suffering.
Our conference represents a crucial step forward in addressing these challenges head-on. By convening some of the most brilliant minds in the field, both nationally and internationally, we aim to elevate awareness, foster knowledge exchange, and ultimately enhance the standard of care for Canadian patients grappling with SIH.
To our esteemed experts who have generously dedicated their time and expertise to this pivotal gathering, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your contributions are instrumental in advancing our collective understanding and improving patient outcomes.
To all attendees, your presence signifies a shared commitment to making meaningful strides in combating SIH. Your participation is invaluable, and we thank you for joining us on this important journey.
Together, let us forge new pathways towards greater awareness, knowledge, and care for those affected by SIH.
Sincerely,
Spinal CSF Leak Canada is a national health charity run 100% by volunteers (some with personal CSF leak experience). Our vision is to improve the health and lives of individuals suffering from spinal CSF leak and to help equip the Canadian medical community to combat this condition.
Spinal CSF Leak Canada achieves its mission through supporting research, education, and advocacy relating to improvements to public policy. A large component of the organization’s efforts also consists of raising public awareness as well as awareness within the medical profession.
This unique gathering would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of the scientific planning committee, as well as the support of our sponsors, and the invaluable contributions of our volunteers.
A heartfelt thank you from all of us at Spinal CSF Leak Canada,
Bahareh N. Cloutier Chair | Founderwww.spinalcsfleakcanada.ca

Develop multiple approaches for treatment of SIH.
Recognize, diagnose and treat post-dural puncture headache (PDPH).
Apply post-treatment management and prevent/manage complications of chronic SIH.
Describe the Canadian experience and apply research updates from national and international perspectives.
All participants (in-person and virtual) will have the opportunity to actively engage in discussions and spend time in active learning, including roundtable discussions and dedicated Q&A sessions following each section of the conference.
