What’s more Amazing Smethwick or Giza? Well if you’re joining Ian Jelf on Saturday 22nd November, you will discover industrial heritage on a grand scale! Earthworks that were the world’s biggest at the time (yes, bigger than The Pyramids!) and two Grade One Listed monuments (yes, that’s the same listing as St Pauls or Westminster Abbey). So take the opportunity to get “off piste” and be amazed by the canalside of Smethwick (and you won’t have to fight off the trinket sellers and American tourists either!) Click HERE
Last Chance for the Fort If you’re looking for a really unusual weekend away with Spice friends, look no further than our amazing weekend coming up at Fort Belan. Lose your "Aunt" "Far too many people have no idea what they can do because all they've been told is what they can't do" Removing the "aunt" that separates can from can't is quite an obsession for Spice Members. This morning we had a visit from an 83 year old member who has recently joined Spice. "What sort of things do you enjoy doing" we had asked him while instinctively offering him a comfy chair. "Oh, I run marathons" he replied! It is oft true that what the mind can conceive and believe - it can achieve. I have just returned from a brilliant Spice trip to Krakow. During that trip we took a harrowing visit to the Nazi death camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau. There can be no more poignant a place on earth in which to ponder the potential of human beings. The potential for heroism, the potential for unspeakable evil and the potential to do nothing at all. None of us know how we would react in such an extreme situation as that. But hopefully in our own day to day situations we can remember our potential – and that it is in our hands to change from can’t to can. Amazing can happen when to lose our “aunt”.
