Message from thePrincipal
Congratulations to our hardworking and talented Year 12 students who have again produced some exceptional results.

Each year our students involve themselves in the whole life of the school and fully participate in our holistic educational programme. Philosophically we aim to develop and educate the whole person. Our integrated approach focusses on physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth, encouraging our students to give of their best in all circumstances. St Paul’s is a dual credential school and offers both the Higher School Certifi cate (HSC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). This enables our students to choose the credential that best suits their gifts and abilities. Many of our students are seeking university entrance to not only Sydney universities but also universities across the country and around the world. Congratulations as well to a number of our students who have been accepted as apprentices and are enrolled in TAFE and other courses both in Australia and overseas.
In 2018, 31 students sat the HSC and 54 students sat the IB Diploma. The duces of the IB Diploma were Emma Bryant and Isabelle Duffy who achieved the score of 42 out of a possible 45. This translates to an ATAR of 99.40. The dux of the HSC was Matthew Seckold who achieved a band 6 in Ancient History, Legal Studies, Studies of Religion (1 unit) and an ATAR of 92.10. Combining our HSC and IB Diploma
results 35% of our students received an ATAR above 90 and 50% above 80.
The achievements of our students are truly inspirational. Listening to their dreams and aspirations is such an encouragement. This publication is designed to highlight the accomplishments of our students as they move beyond their St Paul’s experience.

Theatre proved to be Emma’s favourite IB Diploma subject, providing her with a creative release to enjoy with her friends. In addition to regular classes, Emma showed great initiative in debating and programmes such as Wrap with Love, The Junior School Reading Programme, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and the Cambodia Service Trip.
Emma is grateful for the opportunities she was given at St Paul’s, especially being able to engage with the wider community. In 2019, she is enrolled in a Flexible Double Law Degree at the Australian National University.
Although fi nding time and motivation to study proved to be challenging for Isabelle, she praises her parents and teachers for her success. Isabelle most enjoyed the community aspect of St Paul’s, saying that she found it easy to talk to both teachers and students, as they were always more than willing to help.
Isabelle most enjoyed studying Visual Arts, French and Mathematics. She hopes to further her studies in animation with a dream of one day working for big fi lms.
Throughout his years at St Paul’s, Matthew focussed on balancing a healthy lifestyle, particularly in finding a good medium between work, sport and leisure. His favourite subjects included Ancient History and Extension 1 English. Outside of class, Matthew enjoyed sporting activities such as soccer, cricket, PSSA and the Wiburd and Douglas Shields competitions.
Matthew believes the most significant factor contributing to his success were his teachers, followed by his subject choices. He is enrolled in a Bachelor Commerce/Bachelor Advanced Science (Honours) at the University of NSW.
PLANS FOR
My advice to future students is to look into university courses or other options ASAP!
Manage your time wisely and try to find a way to somewhat enjoy studying and working. Focus on the end goal and studying might become easier.
Select subjects based on personal interest and ability, not university pursuits or scaling. Enjoy your final year, work hard but not to the point where it affects health or every other facet of life.
