CHAIRMAN’S CORNER

Dear SPE Members,
Tyler Yancey
Petroleum
Engineer
Chevron
SPE-PB Chairman 2024-2025
As we welcome the month of March, I am reminded of its special significance as Women’s History Month. It is a me to honor and celebrate the remarkable contribu ons women have made throughout history and con nue to make today. March 8th marks Interna onal Women’s Day, a global day dedicated to recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and poli cal achievements of women.

On a personal note, I am deeply grateful for the influence of two extraordinary women in my life, the two women who raised me from a young child to the man I am today: my mother and my late grandmother. Their dedica on, strength, and unwavering support have shaped me into the man I am today. Their stories and sacrifices inspire me to strive for excellence. I would also like to send a special recogni on to the Women of SPE and the women who serve on our SPE Board. They constantly mo vate and encourage us to push the boundaries of innova on and excellence within our industry. Their invaluable contribu ons and leadership are a testament to the strength of women in engineering.
This month, we are also excited to announce that our Regional Director, Carlos Torres, will be visi ng the Permian on March 18th. This visit will coincide with our General Sec on Mee ng, where we will have the honor of hos ng the Dis nguished Lecturer, Leen Weijers. Carlos will be available before the mee ng begins and a erwards for open dialogue, providing an excellent opportunity for interac on and networking with the SPE Permian Basin Members. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to engage with Carlos and discuss any topics of interest.

In addi on to the exci ng events in March, I am thrilled to share that I visited the Texas Capitol for Texas Energy Day last month. This significant event, held bi-annually, plays a crucial role in advoca ng for the oil and gas industry. It serves as an essen al pla orm for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to come together and discuss the pressing issues and advancements within the sector.
Texas Energy Day offers a unique opportunity to highlight the cri cal contribu ons of the oil and gas industry to the state and na onal economy. It is a chance to emphasize the importance of energy security, innova on, and sustainable prac ces. “The oil and natural gas industry ma ers to all Texans because its tax revenue paves our roads, builds our schools and funds our first responders. In FY 2024, the oil and natural gas industry (Con nued

paid over $27.3 BILLION in state and local taxes and state royal es – the equivalent of $74 million every single day. Texas is the na on's number one producer of oil and natural gas in the number one producing na on around the globe. What's happening in Texas has global implica ons – Texas is the undisputed energy capital of the world!” By engaging in dialogues with our elected officials, we can ensure that the industry's voice is heard and that our interests are represented in legisla ve decisions. I encourage you to seek out any opportunity to advocate for our industry, even outside of Texas Energy Day.
We look forward to a wonderful month of March filled with learning, inspira on, and celebra on. Let us take this me to reflect on the incredible achievements of women and to strengthen our industry and community bonds through meaningful interac ons and discussions.
Thank you for your con nued support and dedica on to the SPE community.
Thank you,

Chairman of the Board of Directors
