Leonardo Gamez
UTPB SPE President

So far, our SPE student chapter has been a success. We have been truly fortunate to have lunch and learns hosted here at the university and sponsored by local operators. Many of them have resulted in future internships/ full- me posi ons for the students not only in petroleum background but also in other fields of engineering.
We also partnered with SPE PB to bring a resume review for students prior to the internship fair. There were plenty of talks from students expressing how such an event has provided greater confidence and allowing them to converse with recruiters more effec vely. Tyler Yancey has been a key factor to the success of our student chapter, his team as well as himself have shown powerful sense of leadership that the UTPB SPE student chapter is constantly learning from.
I was fortunate enough to par cipate in a volunteer event with SPE PB, working with industry leaders allowed me to sharpen my skills in problem solving, interpersonal communica on and most of all teamwork. We had such a blast.
Lastly, I wanted to men on our exci ng rig tour with Fasken Oil and Ranch this upcoming month, this unique experience will help us develop an understanding of drilling opera ons, rig components and much more.
Thank you everyone for making this happen. These wonderful experiences would not have been possible without the guidance of SPE PB, our adviser, the student chapter team and all the wonderful lunch and learns we have had thus far with the local operators in the Permian basin. Thank you all for the me and effort that you all provided for our students.

Addi onally, SPE TTU sponsored 20 students to a end the ATCE conference in New Orleans. We sincerely thank our generous sponsors for making all these events possible.
