Library Path Addition
After evaluating a site located on campus, an addition/intervention was designed to break the flow of movement along a busy path next to the Library at the University of Idaho in Moscow. Starting with a site matrix and plan allowed the structure to be deeply connected to the site. In elongating the form overall, and keeping it mostly open, the structure can either be explored or avoided completely. The aim however is to invite the viewer into exploring the space at their own leisure.

Dual Occupation Dwelling
Combining both an Architect and a Greenhouse Farmer, this Dual Occupation Dwelling connects both professions by enhancing their similarities and celebrating their differences through different design techniques. Creating planes and beams by pulling them out of the main core structure allowed a fragmented design to flourish, while still feeling coesive and connected. Creating sightlines between private spaces and public spaces also speak to this connected concept.

Trail Cafe Intervention
Creating a cafe and perfomance space to connect both Moscow ID and Pullman WA was achieved by an intervention of the path next to and integrated within an overpass right along the Pullman Moscow Highway. Through the use of numerous iterations and a site diagram and analysis, the cafe and performance space are integrated within the path, forcing an interaction with the viewer and the structure. Creating an interactive experiene with a skin on the structure which had been abstracted from the full path itself was integral in the process. Seeking harmony in both form and function was paramount throughout the design process.

Journey at Dunkirk
Designing for a museum with no history, the Journey at dunkirk strives to connect the viewer with the history of the site through the use of natural light within the abstract cubic forms. The seperation of forms forces the viewer to be in the moment, allowing them to ponder and think about the history that happened where they are walking. By allowing the ruined building to function as the museum, the form of the additions were completely extruded from the ruin, creating a strong connection to the site. The lack of flooring and glass creates a strong connection to the elements, creating unique sand drift patterns outside and inside the forms chaniging with the elements of any given day. By creating 5 seperate yet connected modules, the museum of no history can begin to write its own story.

U of I Arboretum Pavillion
The University of Idaho is home to a spectacular arboretum, and this design project was set on a hill within that arboretum, hosting some amazing views of the palouse. Through rigorous exploration, the project landed on a larger outdoor performance space with two satellite additions. This project required intense site analysis and manipulation which then allowed for the designer to explore different approaches to design within this context. This project was completed using only hand drafting and rendering techniques.

Portland Urban Housing Project
Nested in the Pearl district of downtown portland, this project took a vacant lot and envisioned a medium density urban housing addition. With heavy emphasis on modular units and functional floorplans, this project required extreme iteration to land at its final form. Exploring materality with respect to the location and comunity was also an important aspect of this project. An open courtyard was included in the design to maxamize natural light in such a dense, urban area. This project was completed with hand rendered techniques throughout the entire process.
