Overview

These guidelines exist to maintain a professional and consistent look which reinforces our brand across the globe. Follow these guidelines to create marketing materials, internal and external communications.

Our brand is more than our logo. It is a design scheme made up of a number of core elements and guiding principles that combine to create a distinctive look and feel that is immediately recognisable as Spec Services. This guide will help to familiarise you with the core brand elements to assist you in designing and producing dynamic and powerful communications with a degree of flexibility.

Spec Services is a professional commercial and construction cleaning, services management company, focused on providing facility managers, builders, developers and contractors with an unmatched level of quality, understanding and exceptional service.

Founded by Katie and Mark Hale on their return from an assignment in the Caribbean, Spec began as a small, local, cleaning firm.

Together they grew the business into a multi-faceted services company delivering not only domestic but commercial, industrial and construction cleaning services to the public sector, private and broader industry.

We are proud to have set the benchmark for quality service within the cleaning industrydelivering on budget, on time and to exact specifications every time.

What is the Spec difference?

We are capable, reliable and experienced. Our innovative approach to management and supervision sets us apart in so much that we constantly check

the quality of work performed, so called 'white glove standard'. Global Experience. Local Solutions.

In order to meet our clients’ high standards, our team is rigorously selected and inducted ensuring each member is adequately trained, well-presented, wellmannered and including the completion of the relevant security assessments prior to employment.

Spec Management and Supervisor team are from diverse backgrounds and bring a huge range of qualifications and knowledge to the solutions required in the field.

Logo

SPEC logo was designed to represent the fingerprint. This symbolism represents uniqueness, acountability and profesionalism.

The word SPEC represents high standards of service delivery and is inspired by the following words - specification, spectacular, specialty, speficity, specializing, specific.

Clear space

Clear space is the area around the logo that must be free of any other text or visual items. We calculate the clear space around the logo using the height of the S within “spec“

It is important that everyone can read the words “SERVICES“. For optimal legibility, we do not use the logos smaller than indicated on the right. Wherever possible, we use larger sizes.

SPEC Services logo should be given a place of prominence on the page. The solid white or black version should be used only where the full colour logo is not an option.

When the logo needs to be in white or appear as semi-transparent watermark, the background should be dark enough providing contrast with the logo, so it can be easily read.

The logo must never be reedrawn, adjusted or modified in any way. It should only be reproduced from the artwork provided.

Colour Guide

Colour is one of the main identifiers of Spec Services corporate design. Please make sure to use the specific colour value.

CMYK colours should be used for print, with spot colours used only as necessary. Digital applications should use RGB, and Hex values may be used for web.

Photography

Spec photography and video content are thoughtfuly planned-out and strategic. The captured images should reflect our brand values, personality and Spec standards.

The photography style is minimalistic and clear-cut, with the situation in each image depicted in an authentic, assured manner with a focus on the essential. The images don’t look at all staged, and yet every single detail is meticulously composed. We set ourselves apart by using reduced colours and desaturated hues instead of colour-intensive tones.

Spec employees must wear full Spec uniform with logo visible to the camera. Make sure correct PPE is to be worn at the same time. Unless its a construction site, workers should not wear hard hats.

Shots should be strategicly planed (what action is required e.g. rinse, wipe, rub, brush, scrub, sweep, dust, remove, clear-out etc.) however feeling natural and spontanious.

Close-up action shots should be well lit and captured with out of focus background. Natural light sources ensure images have an authentic, unembellished look. We recommend to play with depth of field and light to give a more premium touch to the images.

Corporate head shots should be captured with soft day light and out of focus background.

Type

Typography is an important aspect of our brand identity. Our typographic style contributes to our distinctive aesthetic. The typography usage examples on the following pages should be followed to ensure all of our branding communications appear consistent.

The primary typefaces for Spec Services is Montserrat, suitable for long copy, formal heading and sub-headings.

Primary typeface

Century Gothic is a sans-serif typeface in the geometric style.

The design is influenced by the geometric style sans serif faces which were popular during the 1920's and 30's. Useful for headlines and general display work and for small quantities of text, particularly in advertising.

Its high readability and ease of scaling make Century Gothic a suitable typeface for printed material, such as brochures, signage and books.

Web typeface

Montserrat is geometric typeface with bold optical adjustments.

Montserrat is great for creating a simple and clean-looking web design. The font has nine styles from thin to black with a true italic to each.

As a sans serif typeface, Montserrat has high readability. This font makes a great main copy of the website hierarchy.

Spec Indigenous is focused on providing opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (ATSI) people in improving their education pathways, employment prospects and ongoing career development. Spec Indigenous is committed to empowering Indigenous ATSI people in making informed decisions about their employment and financial future and aspires to support a generation that is better educated, more engaged, and focused on professional development.

Spec Services engaged Indigenous Artist Danielle Mate to create a bespoke artwork for Spec Indigenous. The artwork was inspired by the logo and heritage of Spec Services, incorporating the blue fingerprint design with references to the ocean.

The artwork is featured on SPEC uniforms, sustainably printed by Indigenous business B-PROMO; used as car decals, on the office walls and as an element in our corporate visual identity.
