The SPARTINA MERMAID Captivating colors, irresistible style—it was only natural that a mermaid became our insignia! The Spartina 449 mermaid is inspired by tales of sailors who, after nights of indulging in island spirits, gazed into the moonlit ocean and were convinced they saw mermaids swimming nearby. More than likely, they were actually swooning over local dolphins! For us, however, the legend is real. We incorporate an authentic Spartina mermaid into every product we design.

SPARTINA 449 JEWELRY IS PLATED WITH PRECIOUS METALS; 18KT GOLD, SILVER AND RHODIUM. THE JEWELRY IS EMBELLISHED WITH SEMI-PRECIOUS, CRYSTAL, GLASS AND RESIN BEADS AND GEMS. JEWELRY PRODUCT CARE & INFORMATION Our jewelry is plated with precious metals and therefore requires proper care. It is not designed to wear around-the-clock. So please give it a break from time to time. Excessive wear can rub the plating thin and cause discoloration. We recommend that you keep your jewelry dry. Do not wear your jewelry while you are swimming, exercising or bathing. Always put your jewelry on after you have applied your make-up, perfumes and lotions. If your jewelry becomes dirty, do not use jewelry cleaning chemicals or metal polishing cloths. Never use toothpaste and never brush with a toothbrush. They will damage the plating. Store your jewelry in a soft, lined bag or jewelry box away from the sun or heat. Do not store your jewelry in the bathroom where steam and moisture may affect it.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS 18KT Gold and Silver Plating: Only use a soft dry cloth or slightly dampened cloth with water only to clean it. Dry immediately. Gold and Silver plating are very soft metals and you can scratch them if you are not careful, so do not rub too briskly. Never use any chemicals or soaps. Store silver plating in an airtight container to prevent tarnishing. Rhodium Plating: Clean Rhodium plating with warm water and a mild liquid soap. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth immediately to avoid mineral residue from the water. Never use any harsh chemicals or metal polishing cloths.
LEATHER ITEMS We use genuine leather in some of our leather jewelry and therefore some natural color variations may occur. Please protect your leather items from water, and remove them before washing your hands. Leather will tend to stretch over time and is not a defect.

LOWCOUNTRY INSPIRATION Daufuskie Island has been the source of inspiration for Spartina 449 since our company’s beginnings. From its towering ancient oaks to the calm waters of the Calibogue Sound, this unspoiled sea island continues to captivate and enchant us. Our company name comes from the native marsh grass that graces the shores of this small island and protects its pristine beaches, and our product colors and designs are informed by the island’s unsurpassed beauty.
Located between Hilton Head and Savannah, Daufuskie is accessible only by passenger ferry or boat, and a visit to the bridgeless island is like a step back in time. Playful dolphins perform daily shows while lucky beachcombers delight in the discovery of sand dollars and starfish. Shards of ancient Native American pottery and broken pieces of china from Civil War plantations hint at the island’s intriguing history and rich cultural heritage while campfire stories abound with tales of island mermaids and mysterious lighthouse keepers. It is our hope that our products will not only enrich your wardrobe, but that the island that inspires them will also evoke your imagination.
