RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE

Engineer a Better World As an engineering student, you will gain a solid foundation in math, science, and engineering fundamentals, complemented by in-depth training in your chosen specialization. Your cross-disciplinary coursework in the humanities, arts, and social sciences will help you comprehend the cultural and environmental factors crucial to implementing modern engineering solutions. O.T. Swanson Multidisciplinary Design Laboratory In the Design Lab, you will confront open-ended, technically challenging design problems that encompass an array of contemporary issues. Corporate sponsors from some of the world’s most innovative companies (such as IBM and Boeing) will pose these challenges, allowing you to gain valuable real-world insights.

Manufacturing Innovation Learning Laboratory (MILL) The MILL provides a responsive learning environment for you to practice and master modern-day manufacturing processes. Learn to design, engineer, and rapidly prototype new products with innovative courses, such as Manufacturing Processes and Systems, and gain access to industrial-grade equipment.

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Today, more than two billion people lack access to basic amenities such as clean drinking water, adequate sanitation, reliable passage to local markets, and more. Through EWB, an international organization dedicated to supporting community-driven development, you will collaborate with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects around the world. One recent project had students travel to Isla Popa, a Panamanian island, to develop a rainwater catchment system to enhance clean water distribution.
