With input from Members and staff, we have devised a game plan to elevate Spanish Trail to another level and we ask that you please be patient as we initiate these much needed improvements.

As you can see, there are enhancements coming, and please expect a town hall meeting in the Fall. We want to use that time to thank the past Board Members and introduce the new Board Members.

Here’s a delicious, tasty and quick dinner! This Summer Pasta recipe is bursting with flavors of fresh cherry tomatoes, torn basil and mozzarella cheese. I hope you enjoy!

To Taste - Olive Oil for Serving INSTRUCTIONS 1.

Add the olive oil and diced shallots to a large non-stick saute pan and cook on medium-high heat until soft, about 3-5 minutes. Then add the cherry tomatoes and gently stir to combine. Cook until the tomatoes break down and release their juices, about 4-5 minutes.

TY SCHROCK GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

ON THE COURSE The summer is officially here. With the warmer temperatures during the day and night, the Bermuda has taken off and is growing. In addition to the grass growing quickly, weeds also tend to grow well in this weather.

Between mowing the grass and getting rid of the weeds, my team also has been sodding bad areas, edging, fixing the many breaks that have been happening with the irrigation system and just performing routine golf course maintenance projects—we’ve had our hands full and we’re staying busy.

With a short staff, we try and get as much accomplished during the working hours as possible, but outside landscaping areas tend to take a backseat during this time of year and become our winter month jobs.

Now that the new ownership is in place (effective as of midJuly), I am excited to have special projects coming up, and they’re expected to start soon! I have done over 30 years of golf course construction with agronomy works, and I am thrilled to take on another project with Spanish Trail! It is overdue here—we’ve had the irrigation system for over 37 years and the fairway bunkers are the same age. The first project will be to try and finish all of the fairway bunkers with new sand, but some bunkers will be removed and some will be made smaller. Overall, it will look fantastic and it will be a fun project that will make for a better playing experience.

My staff and I look forward to making Spanish Trail Country Club better each day. We know it takes patience and time, but we look forward to the challenge each day brings.
