On my way to university

ESOL

“I’m studying ESOL Level 1, WorkSkills Level 1, Functional Skills IT Level 1 and Functional Skills Maths Level 1.

English for Speakers of Other Languages

I started 2 years ago when I was 15 years old and did not speak any English. Since then I have learnt a lot of English and I feel much more confident than before.

Southwark College works with learners from all over the world to help them to develop more confidence in using English as a foreign language. You will develop English language skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening.

I came to Southwark College because one of my mother's friends had studied here and she recommended it to us. I like the teachers and the lessons that we do. Especially this year it is better organised. The breaks are short so we don't waste time during the day. I haven't decided exactly what I want to do in the future, but I am interested in IT and Engineering so I hope I can do that after this year.”
