and St Thomas’ has the third highest percentage of EU midwives at any London trust - nearly one in five on its wards, with King’s and Lewisham also

heavily dependent on EU midwives. But across the NHS, the number of midwives arriving from the EU has fallen by a staggering 88 per cent in the last year, with the Royal College of Midwives warning chief executive warning ‘we can barely keep pace as it is’ to try to fill posts.
