THOUSANDS ARE calling for a Millwall fan to be awarded the George Cross, after he was stabbed several times while trying to protect others during the London Bridge terror attack.
Roy Larner had surgery for his injuries at St Thomas’ Hospital after standing up to the three attackers on Saturday.
The Lions fan shouted “F**k you, I’m Millwall” as he took on the attackers, throwing stools and glasses at them and using his bare fists. He was stabbed in the head, neck, back and front, and had his fingers cut as he stood up to them. Roy was one of a number of Millwall fans who took on the terrorists, or went out of their way to help terrified people fleeing the scene. Gerard Vowls threw bottles and glasses at the terrorists, and shouted for passersby to
run for safety - alerting many to the attack. Bermondsey window cleaner Marz ushered a family to safety in a nightclub as they fled. Talking of his fellow Millwall fan’s bravery, he said: “We are Bermondsey people. It’s how we behave.” And Bermondsey-born cabbie Darren Kenny pulled people into his taxi, and spent the rest of the night ferrying people for free away from the scene... Full story on page 1
