LEAMINGTON – Attention kids – Santa wants to hear from you! The North Pole Postal Service contacted the Uptown Leamington BIA to let them know they will have a special mailbox at Shotten Park so you can easily mail your letters to Santa. Be sure to include your name and address with your letter so Santa can send you a letter back! Shotten Park is located at 32 Talbot Street West in Uptown Leamington and you can drop off your letters at the mailbox between now and Monday, December 10th. If you need help writing your letter, the Leamington branch of the Essex County Library will be hosting a Letters To Santa workshop this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The temporary library is currently located at 230 Erie Street S. during renovations at the John St. location.

LEAMINGTON – Winter Nights – Christmas Lights! The Leamington Christmas Parade is this Saturday, November 24. Beginning at 6 p.m., over 50 floats are expected to parade from Georgia Ave. and proceed north through town to the Leamington Fairgrounds. During the parade, Santa Claus will be stopping at the library grounds to light the community Christmas tree. The town hall building will light up and there will be fireworks as old St. Nick passes by. St. John’s Anglican Church at 60 Erie St. N. will open its doors and is offering free hot chocolate and cookies. Washroom facilities will also be available.

Santa Claus and his helpers flicked the switch to signal the start of Kingsville’s 26th Annual Fantasy of Lights.

Kingsville kicks off holiday season in grand style

INC.

KINGSVILLE – It was a magical weekend in Kingsville, one that marked the beginning of the holiday season for many. Whether it was Santa signaling the start of the Fantasy of Lights Festival with the flip of a switch, the marching bands, floats, beautifully decorated homes or a visit with Santa, there was something for everyone in Kingsville on the weekend. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17-18, the annual Kingsville Christmas House Tour gave guests a sneak peek into some of the most beautifully decorated homes in the area. Whether it was a gorgeously decorated, gravity-defying, upside-down Christmas tree, a bed well-suited for dreaming about Christmas, or a grand entry boasting a little glitter and glam, nearly 800 guests toured the homes, giving them some ideas while making many envious of the holiday dÊcor. This year the tour was dedicated to Mary and Joe Leach, the original founders of the event. The tour featured eight local homes and the Faith Reformed Church, decorated in a wide variety of styles for the holiday season. Some were

strictly glam, while others celebrated a good-old fashioned Christmas. Interior designer Joan Balsam-Clark was responsible for decorating three of the homes. She said she was delighted with the response and especially thankful for those local residents willing to open their homes up to allow so many guests to visit. Saturday afternoon, youngsters had a chance to give Santa a heads-up on their Christmas wish lists this year. Nearly 300 youngsters and their families attended this year’s fundraiser, Dinner With Santa, sponsored by Eat Drink and Dine Kingsville. After enjoying a pasta dinner, the youngsters had a chance for an early visit with Santa to pass along their wishes this holiday season. The dinner served as an awesome lead-up to one of Kingsville’s biggest, most well attended parades ever. The weather was perfect for the 14th Annual Santa Claus Parade, featuring dozens of well-lit floats, marching bands, entertainers, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. Thousands lined Main Street and Division Street as the parade made its way to Lakeside Park for the official start (Continued on Page A-8)
