GALA 25 raises $520,000 for Erie Shores Health Foundation; kicks off Care Happens Here campaign LEAMINGTON – Erie Shores Health Foundation celebrated its 25th annual Gala with the announcement of the Care Happens Here $15 million capital campaign. “We are beyond grateful to all of our generous sponsors that made this year’s event possible and raised over half a million dollars for our Care Happens Here Campaign. This is the biggest fundraising campaign in the Foundation’s history and we couldn’t do it without the support of the community. Thank you!” stated Christine Colautti, Executive Director, Erie Shores Health Foundation It was an evening with valet service and the red carpet treatment for the sold out crowd. It was also a historic evening as the Gala raised a one-night record total of $520,000. “I could not be more proud of what our hospital has done over this past year,” stated ESHC Chief Executive Officer Janice Dawson. She outlined the number of visits to each department in the hospital, including 96,000 diagnostic tests done annually and the ongoing need to ensure equipment remains in good order and up to date. tal campaign supporting two major projects at the local hospital. A new Health Information System (HIS) will cost $8 million and the renovation and new equipment in the Diagnostic Imaging Department will cost another $7 million. Dawson said this campaign will be the single biggest campaign since the hospital’s inception 70 years ago. Title sponsors for GALA 25 included Aphria Inc., Double Diamond Farms, South Essex Fabricating and Uni-Fab. While the ESHF is celebrating its 25th anniversary, it is also the 70th
birthday year of Erie Shores HealthCare. In addition to this capital campaign, the Erie Shores Health Foundation raises funds to support Erie Shores HealthCare and Erie Shores Hospice of Leamington. Annually, the Foundation funds the purchase of $1 million in medical equipment to Erie Shores HealthCare and $700,000 to Erie Shores Hospice in support of programs and services. The evening included silent auction items, a live auction and a table challenge, which raised the $100,000 needed for a new portable ultrasound machine
and enough to purchase additional needed equipment. “We were able to purchase the portable ultrasound within about 15 minutes, so we kept going to purchase other needed pieces,” said Arms Bumanlag, Director of Communications and Public Relations. “For some of the staff there, it was emotional as people told their stories and their personal connections to the hospital,” added Bumanlag. Jody and Billy Raffoul, along with the Ciao Band and DJ Qrius George, entertained into the evening with live music and dancing.
