Yes, at last we have gone all chronological! Hopefully you will now find your way around our brochure more easily in this new format. Basically, unless it’s a season, like the Friday night music recitals (see the index for those details) then it simply flows in date order. I am delighted with it and hope you are too – Michelle and her marketing team have worked really hard to make it as attractive as possible and I think it sparkles.

I am hoping this format might reduce those ‘dash it all, I meant to go and see that’ moments (or is that just me?).

Oh and another joyful twist – turn the brochure over and da ra – there’s a myriad of courses and workshops for you to take part in. Genius! (well pretty clever at least).

This season we are proud to be presenting our own production of the play Blood Brothers, and a co-production of the Roald Dahl classic – Danny The Champion of the World, which will tour nationally. If the younger members of the family want to help us create their own version of Danny – then there is a fabulous Easter course to let them do that too.

Dinner Theatre We are continuing our successful Dinner Theatre experience this season. Arrive early and enjoy a relaxed three-course meal, choose any three courses from the standard menu, in our popular Atrium Restaurant before taking your seat for the show of your choice in the theatre.

Prices start from £27 per person (incl meal & ticket). Price varies depending on the show. Look out for the knife and fork symbol next to a listing in the brochure.

Behind the Blinds is a new cabaret-style show that reveals what goes on behind the blinds on this ordinary-looking suburban street. Look closely to see that there is no such thing as ordinary. You’ll be glad of your own neighbours after seeing this lot.

If you have ever wondered what it would have been like to witness the birth of arguably the world’s greatest band, then now’s your chance to find out. The R’n’Beatles specialise in performing Beatles’ songs from the legendary Cavern Club and Hamburg era and this event will take place in the Cellar Bar in an attempt to recreate the atmosphere and feel of the day.

The Royal College of Music’s Pacific Trio – violin, clarinet and piano – present an exciting programme with solo works by Finzi and Strauss, their Trio repertoire including a performance of London Tales written for them by leading young UK composers, and Milhaud’s Trio and Bartok’s Contrasts.

A graduate of both the Moscow Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music, Rabiga is offering an opportunity to hear one of the great masterpieces of the piano repertoire, Schumann’s Carnaval.

Together with sonatas

by Beethoven and Scriabin, her programme concludes with Debussy’s enchanting Children’s Corner.

Romanian pianist Peter Ciobanu is a virtuoso in every sense.

He delights his audience with a huge variety of music. He will perform 11 works by 11 composers ranging from Scarlatti to Prokofiev with music

by Chopin, Debussy, Ravel (La Valse), Brahms alongside lesser known composers offering plenty of fireworks.

Winner of the Royal Northern College’s Gold Medal, Julian is a rapidly rising star with an international reputation.

For his debut at SHP Julian offers a classic programme of Scriabin, Schumann (Blumenstück) and Prokofiev (8th Sonata) with Beethoven’s masterful Apassionatta Sonata. This will be a thrilling musical evening.

Bulgarian pianist Evgeny Genchev is a thrilling performer with fine international reputation.

His exceptional technique is combined with intelligent musicianship to give wonderful interpretations. His SHP programme will include Liszt’s Dante Sonata and Stravinsky’s own transcription of dances from Petrouchka.

Veronika is a graduate of London’s Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Conservatoire where she is pursuing post graduate studies.

Her programme includes works by Tchaikovsky and Scriabin alongside works by Chopin, Medtner Fairytale, Prokofiev 3rd Sonata and contemporary pieces by her brother and father, Eli and Vladislav Shoot.

This concert is a true Liederabend with German songs from Beethoven to Schoenberg. The main work in the programme is Schubert’s final offering, the glorious Schwanengesang. Louis is already a well-known soloist with choral societies; Peter Foggitt is the recent recipient of the accompanist award at the Ferrier competition.

In 2007 Simon Spillett was the ‘Rising Star’ at the BBC Jazz Awards and in 2009 his album Sienna Red was voted Record of the Year in Jazz Journal’s Critics Poll. He is also a member of The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, as well as being arguably the world’s leading authority on Tubby Hayes and his musical legacy.

Hard swinging reed man Kelvin Christiane is a stalwart of the London jazz scene. He has released eighteen CDs of his originals and standards and played with such artists as Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes and Don Weller.

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving story of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks; Mickey lives on a deprived council estate with his Mother while Eddie lives in paradise with an affluent family he believes to be his own. The boys, by chance, become childhood friends and they are naive enough not to see the differences between each other.

Mrs Johnstone’s decision to give Eddie away and the boys unlikely friendship will spark a series of tragic events.

The triumph of imagination over intelligence: 10 years of civil partnerships To celebrate 10 years of civil partnerships between people of the same sex in the UK, South Hill Park has invited Dan Phillips to curate a number of projects which deal with relationships between people of the same sex in Britain today.

Dan is an expert on how gay characters and relationships are portrayed in contemporary theatre. He has chosen a musical, Richard the First, and a new play, Needle Work, for the Studio Theatre. He will also host a talk and discussion on the roles of gay characters in contemporary performance.

To accompany this programme of work we have programmed three films, all of which have something of note to say about same sex relationships.

We are delighted to welcome back the critically-acclaimed Swansea City Opera, with their 10th-Anniversary Tour of Faust by Gounod.

Sung in English, this dark Gothic tale follows the fortunes of Faust, who weary of life, is contemplating suicide when he encounters Méphistophélès (the Devil). Faust agrees to exchange his soul for eternal youth and the fulfilment of his hedonistic wishes.

The resulting journey balances romance and temptation; and is widely regarded as a magical and tuneful masterpiece, based on Goethe’s dramatic poem Faust, one of the great works of European Literature.

There will be a pre-performance talk about the opera and production at 6.15pm, given by the Artistic Director of Swansea City Opera, Brendan Wheatley.

Aged just 12, they weren’t the youngest, nor the eldest of the finalists (Busker Bill, 84 melted our hearts with his rendition of ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Mis).

Works are created as part of rehabilitation and outlet programmes in the trust’s adult education centre, occupational therapy units and wards based in Crowthorne which invite creativity while honing skills in a range of visual arts ranging from woodwork to ceramics.

Berkshire-based artist Harriet Brittaine will be embarking on her latest project 100 Paintings in 100 Days³ , which sees Brittaine painting a small still life or landscape every day for over three and a half months. South Hill Park will be following the artist for the last two months of her project, displaying the new works as she paints them. South Hill Park is about seven minutes drive from Bracknell Town Centre in the Birch Hill area. Easily accessible from the M3 (Junction 3) and M4 (Junction 10). We are very well signposted – look for the brown road signs saying ‘Arts Centre’ or showing a comedy mask.

South Hill Park is served well by local buses.

South Hill Park is among a recordbreaking 1,482 parks and green spaces that have this year received a prestigious Green Flag Award 2014/15. It is the second year that we have applied for the award and we are once again absolutely delighted to be successful.

From the Bus/Train Station to Birch Hill Shops take either the 90 or B2. Its then a five-minute walk to the arts centre.

Bracknell is well served with train services from London Waterloo, Reading and other local towns. For further information contact South West Trains on 0845 7 48 49 50.

The national award, handed out by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to visitors that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

South Hill Park Arts Centre is a place where you can spend your life.

A cup of coffee on that first date, then dinner and a show, a proposal in the Italian Gardens, followed by a wedding reception in the Recital Room. A few years later you can visit the panto with the children and encourage them to embark on a journey through the arts.

Years later, they might even have that cup of coffee on that first date at SHP. It’s a place that can stay with you for a lifetime.

Payment An 80p admin fee is charged per transaction for bookings made with credit and debit cards in person and over the telephone.

Online bookings are subject to a charge of £1.25 per booking.

Free to members.

A levy of up to £1 is included in the ticket price to go towards the SHP Development Fund.

Reservations Reservations can be held for four days or until 48 hours prior to a performance. Reservations cannot be made on the day of the performance. Tickets not paid for within this time will be released.

We are unable to reserve tickets for near sell-out shows.

Special offers Please note that only one special offer or discount can be applied to each event.

Tickets and concessions Concessions are available to children, students, registered unemployed, registered disabled and those 62 years and above and when available are shown next to the event. Please bring proof of status.

Refunds and resales Tickets, once purchased, cannot be refunded. If the show is sold out, we can try to resell your tickets for you. A £1 administration fee per ticket is charged. Resale cannot be guaranteed. Free to members.

Data protection When booking a ticket, your details will be held on our database and you will be given the option of being sent information on future shows both at South Hill Park and by other arts promoters that we feel may be of interest to you. At this point please advise us should you not require either of these services.

Access We try to accommodate all visitors to the Art Centre facilities. There are disabled parking bays and ramped access to the premises allowing easy entry to the reception area.

There is lift access to the first floors in the main mansion and Theatre allowing people to visit the theatre bar and Bracknell Gallery. There are also adapted toilets equipped with emergency alarms. There may be restricted access to parts of the building due to its eighteenth-century listed status, however, every effort is being made to address this and we recommend pre-booking and we will assist you in any way possible.

Helpers accompanying people with disabilities are entitled to a complimentary ticket, please advise box office staff of any special requirements you have when making your booking. An infra-red hearing system has been installed in the Studio and Wilde theatres and a £5 deposit will be required.
