SYNOPSIS
It's a manic pre-Christmas shopping day and the streets are packed with bargain hunters. No-one notices homeless Kate falling on the pavement, apart from siblings Nicky, Paul and Ben who help her up. The children want to help Kate, but their Mum is just angry to hear that they have been talking to a stranger. As Christmas draws nearer, the children can't stop thinking about Kate. Will they persuade Mum to help?!
This term we explored the theme of homelessness through the novel ‘Street Child’ inspired by the true story of Dr Barnardo. Our work in our English lessons and Charities Week, raising money for ‘Barnardo’s’, supported our understanding of this powerful story. a
