Intent

A t Southf i eld, PE i s an essenti al part o f every child’ s Physical devel opment and we ll- being. Whilst f ollowing and a dap ting the a ims set out in theNational C urriculum, we ar e committed t o inspiringevery child t o engage and enjoy competitive sport helping them t o become physically conf ident ind if f erent ways t hrough PE t hat will support and mould t heir healt h and f i tness f or the f uture

Implementation

During each PE lesson, every child is giver the opportunity to promote and develop a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle and well being.

Growing in confidence at the their own ability to perform in a range of different collaborative and cooperative activities such as Athletics, Dance, Games, Gymnastics and yoga.

Inclusion

It is very important that PE is in clusive to all, making every child feel conf ident in having the opportunity to an active role in their lessons.

A ll the children will continue to learn the importance of maintaining the PE values of f air play, teamwork and sportsmanship while also applying our TRU E values.

Th roughout K ey St age 1, children will be taught the f undamental skills that will help them to grow in conf idence as they develop and master basic movements that includes:

• A gility

as well as developing, running, jumping, t hrowing and catching whilst working individually or with others.

Autumn Curriculum Overview

Year 1: Games Unit 1: Multi-skills Throwing and catching. Focusing on developing a range game playing skills based in throwing and catching.

Healthy Lifestyle Week

During the SummerTerm, wehost our annual Healthy Lif estyle week, where the children can sample a wide range of sports and fitness activities and we round of f the amazing week with Sports Day.

The children got to try workshops such as Morris dancing, Circus skills, Tai Chi, Steel Pan playing, Martial Arts, Yoga, Cricket, South American dance and Olympic dance.

It is a f un, f illed week that the childrenenjoy and they learn how to live a healthy lif estyle.
