making your home work The secondary spaces that keep you + your home running deserve a refresh, too. Efficiency in design can make a big impact on your daily routine. With 2021 officially upon us, it is key to reflect on the things, people, and spaces that make us most happy. In this reflection, recognize the environments that evoke a sense of calm, but also enhance productivity! Work-from-home trends are on the rise, and we’ve definitely seen an increase in the desire for efficiency in the home, but we still need to designate the hard-working spaces from the spots to relax and renew. This recent Southern Studio project embodies that balance. The journey began amid the North Carolina stay-at-home orders, which was a slight roadblock but, we’re never ones to shy away from a challenge! One of our favorite parts of

the design process is to learn and observe our clients’ likes and dislikes through a ’throwdown’ session, where we display an array of samples— tile, paint, fabrics, trims—of various colors and patterns. This is where we discovered the clients’ love for a soft color palette, full of soft blues, beiges, and greys, which set the tone for the project. While a whole-home remodel seemed intimidating at first, we worked closely with the family to make the design process as seamless as possible—even during the statewide shutdown.
