HOME FOR ENTERTAINING WITH SOUTHERN STUDIO INTERIOR DESIGN PRESENTS

HOST + HOME

WELCOME TO A NEW SEASON!

There’s something truly special about the start of fall in North Carolina. That crisp shift in the air, the return of routines, football weekends, cozy sweaters, and casual gatherings with friends— it’s one of my favorite times of year.

Southern Studio and Home for Entertaining share a home at 119 West Park Street — a space filled with creativity, laughter, collaboration, and a whole lot of hard work. In the pages that follow, we’re sharing a peek of our favorite happenings.

At Home for Entertaining, we recently celebrated a big milestone: our two-year anniversary. We marked the occasion with an end-of-summer, fresh-from-the-farm celebration that felt like the perfect send-off to the season. Building this business from the ground up has been such a joy, and I couldn’t be more proud of our team. Jackie and Megan manage every detail with heart and dedication, and this year, we welcomed Heather to help lead our curated experiences and marketing efforts. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by an incredibly talented community of chefs, instructors, artisans, and assistants — a creative and hardworking group that truly makes Home for Entertaining shine.

In this issue, we’re excited to share a recent renovation that was especially meaningful to our Southern Studio team. From the exceptional detailing in the kitchen design to the moody lounge with a dry bar, and the beautiful porch overlooking the golf course, every space was thoughtfully designed for entertaining and making lasting memories. We hope you enjoy the transformation as much as we did bringing it to life.

The shop is fully stocked and ready for the season ahead — tailgates, chili nights, and all the cozy moments that make fall so special. As you flip through this issue, you’ll find some of our favorite seasonal picks, along with highlights from the Home for Entertaining kitchen. And get ready — we’re already preparing for the holidays, with our best-ever Christmas collection launching November 1.

Wishing each of you a season filled with beauty, connection, and everything you love most. We can’t wait to see you in the shop soon!

Warmly,

Vicky Serany

SOUTHERN STUDIO PROJECT REVEAL

A Family Home Reimagined:

A Thoughtful Transformation

After raising three children in their much-loved family home, this special family was ready for a change. They wanted a fresh start that still felt familiar, a place that honored years of memories while embracing a new chapter. With stunning golf course views and plenty of potential, their home was the perfect canvas. The Southern Studio team was honored to help bring their vision to life.

Led by Senior Designer Kayla Boyle, the transformation was a true collaboration from the very beginning. We listened closely to the family’s goals: a high-functioning kitchen for daily life and hosting, a cozy lounge for relaxing beside the fire, and an outdoor living area that fully embraced the home’s incredible setting.

This project was a perfect blend of vision, trust, and creativity,” says who fully embraced the design process, and collaborating alongside contractors, allowed us to bring something truly beautiful to life.

The renovation began with key architectural updates that set the tone for the rest of the project. An awkward pantry was removed, which opened up the kitchen and for better flow. We also reconfigured the main staircase to improve circulation between Outside, the removal of an aging gazebo allowed for the addition of a generous new outdoor living area, creating a seamless connection between indoors and out.

At the heart of the home, the kitchen was completely redesigned for both style and function. A wall of custom cabinetry provides ample storage and includes a beautifully integrated coffee station, tailored to the homeowners’ daily routine. The walnut island is a true showpiece, with a waterfall edge and hand-crafted detailing that adds warmth and sophistication. Overhead, statement lighting balances classic design with a hint of modern charm. Perhaps most meaningful of all, the family’s original dining table was lovingly updated. We preserved the base and paired it with a new walnut top, giving it a fresh look while retaining its sentimental value.

A THOUGHTFUL NEUTRAL PALETTE

Throughout the home, all-new furnishings were selected with intention and care. In the fireside lounge, a curated mix of cozy chairs, textured pillows, and layered throws creates an inviting place to gather. The furnishings reflect the space’s moody, intimate feel, enhanced by a dramatic fireplace surround and warm, ambient lighting. A custom bar adds both function and elegance, designed for mixing a signature cocktail or serving guests with ease.

The outdoor living area is a true retreat. A larger covered porch was added, complete with a fireplace for year-round comfort. Phantom screens allow the space to open and close at the push of a button, making it ideal for both quiet mornings and lively evening dinner parties. Natural textures, light upholstery, and soft layers carry the relaxed, livable style outdoors. A dedicated grilling porch nearby ensures the space is as practical as it is beautiful.

What made this project so successful was the spirit of trust and collaboration. Working with clients who value design and embrace the process allows creativity to flourish. The result is more than a beautifully redesigned home. It is a place where the past and present meet with purpose, and where family life can continue to grow and evolve with grace. says Boyle. “Working with a client alongside such a talented group of

An Autumn Table, Reimagined SEASONAL STYLING

Setting the Thanksgiving table feels like a ceremony in itself. Each chosen piece contributes to the story unfolding around the meal—an intentional layering of pattern, color, and texture. Here, deep blue vintage glassware brings a rich contrast to tall, textured wine goblets, while the woodland-inspired dinner plates echo the natural elements of the centerpiece. Seasonal foliage, figs, and pears weave seamlessly with the tabletop design, creating harmony between the tableware and the harvest it celebrates. The soft blue linens and woven napkin rings add a touch of refinement, while the subtle blue berries within the plate motif tie the setting together with fresh, inviting energy. The result is a tablescape that feels both timeless and celebratory, perfect for

There’s a certain charm to a fall Saturday when the game is about to begin. The air is crisp, the sun casts a golden glow, and the yard fills with the scent of the grill and the sound of easy laughter. Friends gather, plates in hand, as cheers and conversation flow as naturally as the autumn breeze. It’s gameday at its best—connection, tradition, and the shared thrill of

How to prepare:

While you pre-heat the oven to 425° F, combine the tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, shallot, oregano, salt and pepper on a small sheet pan.
