Staff Attend Autism Reality Experience Training

Staff from across Learning Support, Student Engagement and Campus Services recently attended the Autism Reality Experience Training at Newry West Campus on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st March. The Autism Reality Experience is an innovative & inspirational training session designed to give individuals a virtual experience of living with autism. The training was practical enabling staff to gain a greater insight into autism and help see the world from an autistic person perspective. Many thanks to Newry City Neighbourhood Renewal Health Subgroup for facilitating this opportunity.

Hello Possible!

Check out these photos from the workshop

As part of the 10-year celebration for PBL, the College also hosted an innovative two-day workshop for students in collaboration with Catalyst.

The dynamic and successful “Hello Possible” programme enables students the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for innovative businesses and explore how to make them a reality.

This engaging entrepreneurial opportunity attracted students from various curriculum areas, providing a fun experience to enhance and develop skills. To help foster creativity, students were treated to breakfast and lunch on both days.

Dear March

Dear March, come in! How glad I am! I looked for you before. Put down your hat — You must have walked — How out of breath you are!

Matthew McKeown, Programme Manager for Entrepreneurship at Catalyst and former SRC student led the programme and commended participants for their impressive ideas.

Students were also excited to learn that, pending funding approval, the next stage of the workshop will involve attending an innovation retreat to further develop their concepts. The workshop was a great success, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.

On behalf of SRC, we extend our gratitude to Catalyst and particularly Matthew, for making this event such a success!

Dear March, how are you? And the rest? Did you leave Nature well? Oh, March, come right upstairs with me, I have so much to tell!

Domestic Abuse Awareness Month

This month’s Health and Wellbeing focus is Domestic Abuse Awareness. The College embraces its statutory duty of care to ensure the physical, mental health, health, safety and welfare of its employees.

What is Domestic Abuse?

Domestic abuse is threatening, controlling, coercive behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, virtual, physical, verbal, sexual, financial or emotional) inflicted on anyone (irrespective of age, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or any form of disability) by a current or former intimate partner or family member.

Click here to visit our Human Resources & Development Domestic Abuse tile which includes information and essential tips to recognise signs and seek help if you or someone you know is experiencing abuse.

The College prioritises employee wellbeing by embedding health initiatives into its strategy. This commitment is reflected in policies and procedures, pastoral care, and wellness activities. By supporting each other, we uphold our mission of “Putting the learner first.”
