REVERSING POOR HEALTH IS POSSIBLE Get an education in your unique body

Fatigue, brain fog, stubborn excess weight, uncomfortable gut issues, insomnia, mood issues and other symptoms are far too easy to write off as unrelated, likely due to aging or ‘all in our heads.’ When symptoms worsen or persist and there are no obvious answers, many people become hopeless. However, it is possible to relieve and even reverse these symptoms, according to Dr. Laura Robin of Rosa Transformational Health in Medford.

“We each have enormous control over the future of our health, but a lot of people don’t know that,” she said. “It is possible to change the course or even turn around chronic health issues. You don’t need to feel fat, sick and depressed. If you’re willing to be proactive with your health, we can get the results. It’s a matter of systematically rebalancing your body and supplying what it needs to function optimally.”

The key to change at Rosa Transformational Health is a deep evaluation to determine root causes of health issues and then creating individualized, medically-directed wellness programs to correct and reverse those causes, empowering people to make changes for better health.

“We call what we do at Rosa a curriculum, because it’s like getting a college education in your unique body,” Robin said. “We partner with people to provide the education, structure and mentoring necessary to achieve and maintain optimum health. So often, the reason people fail at change is that they don’t have the help they need to negotiate the hard parts. When we are trying to make transformational change, we are going to hit roadblocks and have questions, so it is vitally important to have someone be there with us.”

Rosa Transformational Health has worked with over 300 people in the Rogue Valley since the clinic opened in 2015, helping them achieve goals such as reducing dependence on medications, achieving a healthy weight and reversing Type 2 diabetes and autoimmune disorders.

Robin gave the example of a program member named Jane, who is 56 years old. Due to overwhelming pain and fatigue, she retired early from her job as a therapist. She spent two years in bed before connecting with Rosa Transformational Health. After six months in the program, Jane is now very active and preparing to restart her practice.

“We are taught that medications can help make us feel better or control an issue, but in reality, medicine doesn’t turn around the underlying cause of what’s going on with a body,” Robin said. “When we address the root issues, often our bodies will respond beautifully.

I have seen people from ages 20-85 turn their health issues around.”

Robin, a D.O. and board certified in Family Medicine, says she is able to straddle both the traditional and natural perspectives.

“For people in crisis, our medical system is fantastic; however, if we want to actually prevent health crises, feel great, and live healthier and longer, we have got to start looking at our health in a different way.”

“The key to keeping your teeth is early detection of irreversible decay,” explains John Linstrom, a doctor of dental surgery in Medford. “I’ve seen how much people suffer when they are already symptomatic.

For Linstrom, microscope-enhanced dentistry is at the heart of his preventivebased practice. He became fascinated with the use of microscopes as a diagnostic tool for early decay detection when he was a doctoral student at top-ranked University of California, Los Angeles, School of Dentistry. When he opened his practice in Medford in 2000, he soon bought his first dental microscope.

“Once I got the microscope, the difference in my ability to accurately diagnose and treat patients was like night and day,” he says. “It was like turning the lights on in a room rather than feeling around. It was immediately clear to me

that the more magnification, the more accurate I could be.”

In each operatory, a microscopemounted camera allows the patients and staff to see the same incredible view the doctor sees – live – in 4K video quality.

“Patients say they are amazed and grateful to observe our commitment to precision,” says Linstrom. “This shared live view creates complete transparency, a true quantum leap beyond the traditional intra-oral camera. Using the microscope, we can detect and verify the presence of irreversible decay sooner than with conventional techniques, thereby giving the patient the option of treating the decay sooner, with the smallest restoration possible.”

In addition to being able to witness their treatment on screen, patients have privacy at Linstrom Family Dental, which has individual exam rooms. The office cultivates a relaxing atmosphere for all, says Linstrom, praising his dental team.

“We have the best staff in town,” he says.

“I hear that from patients almost daily.

We have a group that cares very deeply about the quality of care provided and patient comfort.”

According to Linstrom, only about 2 percent of dentists in the country use microscopes in general dentistry, but that number will increase as dental schools

introduce the microscope to a new generation of dentists. Linstrom returned to UCLA to lecture on the benefits and application of the microscope.

Using Pure Oxygen to Heal Naturally

I

The facility’s lead hyperbaric technician Aaron Chapman, a trained EMT, says Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Center of Southern Oregon is the first and only free-standing hyperbaric facility in the region to provide true medical-grade hyperbaric oxygen treatment. “Medicalgrade means our trained physicians treat patients with 100 percent pure oxygen in rigid chambers that can generate the high pressures shown by research to aid recovery,” he says.

“In contrast, many clinics and even spas offer what they call hyperbaric treatments, but if they use soft-sided chambers, these are nonmedical grade.

Soft-sided chambers are only capable of reaching 1.3 atmospheres, barely above ambient pressure. Also, many of these nonmedical systems have patients breathing ordinary room air instead of 100 percent oxygen. The results can be disappointing.”
