FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Over 850 USM Foundation Scholarships are awarded through the Golden Opportunities Scholarship Application System (GO System). ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

The Alumni Association annually awards more than $20,000 to select children and grandchildren of Southern Miss alumni. Applications must be submitted for the upcoming fall semester via the Golden Opportunities Scholarship Application System (GO System). FAFSA | FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID A current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for all undergraduate scholarships. The 2021-22 FAFSA will be available at fafsa.ed.gov beginning October 1, 2020.

Students can pay for college through a variety of undergraduate scholarship opportunities at The University of Southern Mississippi. All undergraduate scholarships are housed in the Golden Opportunities Scholarship Application System (GO System). Students must be admitted to the University to access the scholarship database. Students can sign in using their student ID (wXXXXXX ) and SOAR password.

HONORS COLLEGE ADMISSION AND ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS Admission to the Honors College hhHonors Scholar Award | $2,000 annually for 4 years All Honors College applicants will be considered for two achievement awards: the Presidential Scholarship and the Discovery Scholarship. These highly competitive scholarships are awarded to a small number of students who exemplify the core ideals of the Honors College: intellectual curiosity, creativity, openness to new ideas, passion for learning, and drive.

hhNational Merit Finalist | Application Submission Deadline: May 1 Full tuition, campus housing, meal plan and education allowance for 4 years and one-time, study-abroad scholarship (Finalists must list USM as their first-choice institution with the National Merit Corporation by May 1.)

Applying for Scholarships in the GO System ▶▶ Visit usm.edu/scholarships and click on the gold button, “THE GO SYSTEM.” ▶▶ Click on the gold “Sign In” bar (top right). ▶▶ Use your student ID (wXXXXXXXXX) and SOAR password to log in. ▶▶ COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE GENERAL APPLICATION. ▶▶ Once your General Application is submitted, the information you entered will be checked to see if you meet the criteria for any available scholarship opportunities. ▶▶ Then, complete other scholarship applications in the GO System by hovering over “Opportunities” and click “Recommended.” ▶▶ Search for a specific application or scroll through opportunities that automatically appear. ▶▶ Click the “Apply” button to begin your application. ▶▶ COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE APPLICATION.
