VFW Post 2801’s Friday fish fry returns Event will continue each Friday of Lent — through April 15
Villa Park Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2801 held its first Friday fish fry in two years last week. Before the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, the post offered a Friday fish fry throughout the year. The pandemic brought the event — one of the post’s main revenue generators— to a halt. The fish fry returned to the post, located at 39 E. St. Charles Road, on March 4, the first Friday of the 2022 Lenten season. “We probably could have done it a month ago, but we decided to kick it off the first Friday in Lent,” said Post Commander Jim Blankshain, who said the VFW post will continue the fish fry each Friday throughout Lent (through April 15). “If it runs well for the next seven weeks, we’ll continue on with it,” said Blankshain. “We’ll just have to see.” The post’s Friday fish fry runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost of $10 per person includes two pieces CHRIS FOX PHOTO Villa Park Review of fish, two sides, bread and desCHRIS FOX PHOTO Villa Park Review the first time in two years, Park while Veterans Foreign Wars (VFW) Post held loss its Friday fishanfry lastwin week.
