Cullerton: We need to invest in ‘agribusiness’ to grow economy Statistics indicate that Illinois’ 74,300 farms cover nearly 27 million acres, or about 75 percent of the state’s total land area, a fact State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) has come to appreciate and support in what he calls “agribusiness.” As a participant in the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Adopt-A-Legislator program, Senator Cullerton was “adopted” by Montgomery County Farm Bureau, which he has been visiting ever since he was sworn into office in 2013 in an effort to learn more about the importance of agriculture and the needs of Illinois farmers. “Agribusiness is vital to our economy,” Cullerton said. “The investments we make into agriculture not only help grow our economy but also puts food on our tables.” Created in 2001, the Illinois Farm Bureau Adopt-A-Legislator Program helps build longterm relationships between urban state legislators and farm-

Willowbrook hosts State send-off celebration for Winter Guard

On March 23, Willowbrook hosted a State sendoff celebration as the team left to compete in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit Championship on April 2 in La Porte, Ind. The team competed in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit, a local circuit of Winter Guard International, where the group received two first-place awards within their class. The team also took second place at the Regional competition on March 20 at Carl Sandburg High School.
